Poll: what, if anything,would you be willing to compromise on

Seen a few posts saying that the union don’t know what our, as members, red lines are.

Fair enough, we all have different priorities, but what, if anything would you personally be willing to concede?

Later starts and buy out of allowances, that's just moving with the times.

Not that straight forward. Depends how late the start times are. Annualised hours- I want a finish time. Pay- depends how much below inflation it is. It's a physical job, a lot of wear and tear so sick pay should stay as it is. New entrants - if they're doing the same job as me then they should get paid the same as me. Depends on the allowance. No to compulsory redundancies. Better offer for VR than they've given.

The companies argument, would be that people are ordering stuff later into the evenings, but the industry expects next day delivery. So they are bumping start times back to accommodate those coming later into the network. As well as moving away from airmail, to reduce carbon footprint.

Whether you agree or not, that's the companies line.

Easy for me to say as I don’t receive any but I think losing allowances like driving and PHG just be given up along with Sunday working for a settlement.

I also think it should be easier to sack those that abuse the sick pay rather than introducing statutory sick pay.

Also I’m open to later starts maybe 8am.

While I applaud the sentiment of this poll it doesn't actually tell us much. We don't know how many people have voted nor how many would compromise on everything or nothing at all.

As a start we probably need a poll on how many people would or wouldn't compromise on absolutely everything. If over 50% have no personal red lines then maybe the union should put the current offer to the members. I suspect though that, due to Simon trying to push all of this through at once, most people will have different red lines in there somewhere so there would be absolutely no chance of 50% voting in favour of the current "final" proposal.

It seems annualised hours is the only no go from those who've voted, even though I've rarely been sick I'm surprised posters are prepared to accept the changes.

I wonder if ST is prepared to repeat this poll to a wider audience on Workplace, given that so many posters on here seem willing to accept the majority of the changes proposed? You sense if RM's latest offer didn't include annualised hours then it could well be acceptable to the majority of RM employers if it included a reasonable pay rise.

Yeah, it pretty much just gives an indication of which of the changes are least popular, annualised hours. Which is my personal view, that annualised hours / banking hours and commit to deliver, is the worst aspect of the "deal on the table".

You probably right.
You could also assume that with the suggested changes, Royal Mail could, with the right leadership, be profitable making it a better proposition for sell off.

Haven't they said that large and medium parcels are being sent to parcelforce to deliver via there newer larger parcel network, smaller parcels staying with royal mail for the moment? So why later starts for mail?

The latter point I guess, to move from airmail to rail.

But, as we all suspect, I think a lot of it has to do with, they're actively trying to piss us off and drive us out.
