More talks?

Post by osgoody1970 »

Rishi has had a word and simon,s had his legs smacked, the only conclusion from today,s announcement, RMT also suspending strikes on the same day? The government know with recession looming, (if not already here) and the cost of living crises, something had to be done? Also the impending 99.9 vote of no confidence in our Simon, must have been a game changer? Rishi must have choked on his corn flakes, when he saw royal mails new offer!!! I think the 1.5 per cent next year tipped him!!! :nana

I think it was the major shareholders quaking at the idea of having to attend a meeting with Ward showing them his alternative vision.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

What exactly is Dave Wards alternative vision??

He's never really said other than a fair deal for the workers. What exactly is a fair deal?? Royal Mail are proposing that they want change BUT are offering less than inflation for it.

Thats not a deal but a blatant rip-off on our terms and conditions!!
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Keith Williams promised a knighthood or something along those lines if he gets the strikes called off, as it's odd that both RMT and the CWU both announce they are now having "intense" talks on the same afternoon, surely it more than just a coincidence?

The "fair deal" will be whatever he tries to sell us as being a reasonable offer by RM when it's announced in a week or two?

I have a horrible feeling it will involve his dream of us checking in on elderly residents, washing up for them, changing lightbulbs etc. End of the day we all have hours spare everyday to do a few good neighbour tasks. ;liar
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

People are not seeing the significance of the talks being only up to November 15th. The next day, RM will be desperately trying to piece together a projection of how many £millions will ultimately be saved by getting some of the cost-cutting measures they want agreed with the union. The day after that (17th) is half-year results day.
Thompson HAS TO have a deal in place by then. If he doesn’t, but announces any dividend to shareholders, it will prove that he lied when he said there’s no spare money to improve the pay offer. If he announces NO dividend and no peace agreement, the shares will fall further, increasing the risk of a VESA break-up bid, which is curtains for him & all the other board members.
Peace deal concluded by 15th.
Announces on the 17th that everything’s rosy, strikes are off, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are on, Christmas is on and the bad news on falling profits is buried in the small print.
Cynical? Moi?

The only way talks will be productive is if one side stops dictating and not listening too the vast majority of the workforce an agreement takes two sides. We can conclude somewhere in the middle and change should be recompensed by more than inflation as a cost saving while we do not live in a perfect world.
We can all agree change is inevitable but we should have recompense and be effectively communicated why and be fair with us all and also why should the people at the top get big bonuses while on their watch they are or say they are losing £1.2 Million a day.
This is a product of our time that Capitalism has so consumed everything it has started consuming its very own self and us all along with it!
