i take it the reduction to 35 hr week in the last agreement has been vetoed by RM now
where does this leave us regards pay comparisons between ft and pt staff
in the agreement pt staff were given extra pay increase to boost their pay as ft staff got reduction to 37 hrs
with no reduction to 35 hrs for ft staff how does pay work for pt staff who move up to 37 hrs ??
they will be on a higher rate of pay
also with pt staff on higher rate this must impact comparisons between o-time rates as well
when pt staff work same hours as ft then do overtime there pay rate will be higher than full time
doesnt sound right to me
especially when pt in ours start early shifts from 5am ot until their shifts start and do later shifts as well

and dont get me started on professional drivers who when finishing their own shift go out and do deliveries at their higher rate of pay
compared to your opg who covering same work is paid a lot less

35 hour week really means nothing if annualised hours are the future could easily be on 48+ hours over the winter and then bring in student agency workers over the major holidays on 6 quid an hour while we sit at home

I’m seeing what a good job casuals are doing at our place taking 9 hours to do a round when it should take 3.30 an delivering 8 parcels an hour in the van

Trouble is nobody in RM cares whether you do a good job or not. Maybe your regular customers but management and above couldn't care less as long as the tracked are done.

Am I right in thinking that those on 35 hr contracts are on a lower rate than those on 37 hrs? We have 2 in our office, and it my belief they wont catch up on hourly rate until we get down to 35hrs.
