Is this just happening in the NE?

From yesterday - Twitter

Replying to
@CWUnews
Today 461 delivery areas in the North East from 23 delivery offices failed to deliver mail because
@RoyalMail
management have cancelled all overtime in a bid to break the strike, undermine the Universal Service Obligation and break the company up. #StandByYourPost
@CWUnews

Are they trying this on in one area to see what happens?

Depending on how it plays out in MCs the day after our strike, we might need to sacrifice mech and manual letters and flats to divert all the staff from them sections to Tracked and SDs. Probably at least half of the non SD locker staff who are SD locker trained are mech staff

It's to do with a letter sent out by Angela Noon Chief Financial Officer (sorry haven't got a link) concerning how much money they're losing. :Boo hoo!

There's a list of procedures to be followed by Managers to help cut down on the ammount of money they're hemorraging. As next week has several days of rolling strikes, through different functions, RM think it's going to be "Very Quiet" on the mail front. Managers Have been told NOT to allow any pressure OT on the build up to the strikes. The letter says,"Given our biggesst cost is overtime, a 50% reduction target will be introduced in Delivery and Processing to the end of the fiscal year":speak to the hand

Lets see how long that lasts :left: Obviously these people have no idea how this Business works in "The Real World" :cuppa

I’ll give it until Thursday and then it will be overtime for all again with no limits. The clueless suits at the top have tried overtime bans plenty of times over the years and it never lasts more than 3 days. This company runs on goodwill and overtime so it won’t last, unless their plan is to let the whole network fail and have parcels/mail sitting outside of buildings in bad weather. Come to think of it I wouldn’t put anything past them at this point.
