We are pleased to confirm that, following three weeks of robust and productive discussion, a pay offer has been negotiated and proposed to Unite/CMA. This offer will now be put forward to members for their consideration with a recommendation from Unite/CMA to accept.
We believe the offer is fair and reasonable given the current financial challenges facing the company and also recognises the intrinsic role our mangers need to play in securing the future transformation of Royal Mail.
A pay offer worth 5.5% plus a £1000 one off cash payment
The pay offer of 5.5%, which covers the period from 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2023, comprises three elements. This offer would apply to all grades within the negotiating group junior and middle managers in RMG (excluding PFW):
1. 2% basic pay increase from 1 September 2022 (backdated) with flow through for all overtime, allowances and regional pay.
2. 3.5% basic pay increase from 1 September 2022 (backdated) with flow through for all overtime, allowances and regional pay linked to changes outlined below.
3. In addition to the 5.5% pay offer, all managers in grades within the negotiating group junior and middle managers in RMG (excluding PFW), who did not receive this payment in October, will receive a £1000 one off payment (pro rata for part time managers), which we are aiming to pay in November. This will include those managers who have been on sick leave, maternity leave, special leave, and parental/adoptive leave:
Element 2 is contingent upon agreeing to engage and find solutions to the changes outlined in the ‘Programme of Works’ under the Transformation Agreement between Unite/CMA and Royal Mail, in order to find solutions and implement prior to June 2023. Specifically:
• Managerial resourcing that reflects the needs of our customers including (but not restricted to) seven day working methodology and attendance time changes to fit with Royal Mail future transformation
• A commitment to review pay progression and alternative reward mechanisms that enhance our ability to retain talent and reward high performance
We understand Unite/CMA will now ballot its members with a recommendation of acceptance.
We would like to thank all our managers for their continued support at this challenging time for the business.
