LTB 268/22 – Royal Mail – Change Proposals
No. 268/22
15th June 2022
Dear Colleagues,
Royal Mail – Change Proposals
Further to my Facebook update provided to Postal Branches, Representatives and members yesterday afternoon (14th June 2022). In this update reference was made to the Royal Mail Group briefing material that was in general circulation: The Face to Face Briefing Programme — Communicating the Bigger Picture and the Change Proposals the company had tabled which the Union will be discussing with Royal Mail under the terms of the Pathway to Change Agreement.
In light of today’s decision by Royal Mail Group to impose an unagreed pay increase and in order to ensure that colleagues and members have to hand the most up to date information relating to both the managers briefing material and the actual proposals the company have tabled, please find attached to this LTB the following documents:
Annex (A) Face to Face – Briefing Programme – Communicating the Bigger Picture.
Annex (B) Royal Mail Group – Change Proposals Further Details.
See link above for clean links to attachments if needed
Branches and Senior Field Officials should ensure that this LTB and associated Annexes should be circulated to all Area and Local Representatives.
Further updates will be provided to Branches, Representatives and CWU Postal Members on a regular basis
Any enquiries in relation to the content of this LTB should be addressed to the DGS(P) Department.
Yours sincerely,
Terry Pullinger
Deputy General Secretary (Postal)

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Worst one there is moving starts times by UPTO 3 hours and INCREASING delivery spans outdoor.
Sundays dont seem like to much of an issue if they only need 10-25% of the workforce on one day.

I love the briefing guide that the manager is supposed to read prior to spending an hour or so preparing his presentation.
Oh dear, as mentioned previously on numerous occasions they have absolutely no idea of the actual calibre of the managers at DO level, they can't have, can they ?

Says it all really. They want a flat rate on a Sunday, even though we get quite a good rate and could be better.
Scrolling down there spreadsheet they mentioned that Royal mail pay 40% more than our competitors. Never knew our competitors deliver mail, but I know what they mean and that's complete bull.
Longs and shorts in a big office will not work. I can tell you that over the past couple of weeks when it's meant to be the quietest I've been working all my hours pretty much (37hrs). This will just be a disaster waiting to happen with people cutting off, and working loads of overtime during the summer periods then get shafted again when it comes to the darker wetter months. No thanks.

They've basically made the rounds that big now that you can hardly get them done in summer and come busier times you're over every day. If they bring this in and reduce my hours to 6 or whatever over the summer I will not work a minute over and I hope everyone else does the same, the great idea would soon be scrapped when they have more failing duties during the lighter summer months than they ever did over the Xmas pressure period

How can they pay us 40% more, we get around £12:50 - ££13 per hour with allowances, 40% less than this would be £7:50 - £7:80 per hour. Way less than minimum wage. Absolute tools

Why are sundays not an issue if they only want to pay flat rate an if your 1 of the unfortunate 10-25% would you honestly say same thing..2yearpostie wrote: ↑15 Jun 2022, 15:50Worst one there is moving starts times by UPTO 3 hours and INCREASING delivery spans outdoor.

25% of all staff sounds okay until you realise it's probably closer to 50% of available and suitable staff.

Re: LTB 268/22 - Royal Mail - Change Proposals
If it is compulsory, 25% of staff means working one in four Sundays if it is done fairly.
And agreeing with Woody's comment, it could well be more like one in three or even every other Sunday.

Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

It won't be done fairly as the trolley duties won't be required. It will more likely be like the parcel only Saturdays that we had during lockdown and that involved most of the drivers

Correct we don’t have a direct competitor! Whistl and uk mail get us to do there unprofitable dirty work via DSA. Yet more crap used as a reason to justify the we are 40% overpaid position. Here’s my question if we are 40% overpaid then what a about Super Si and the top team? No doubt they will be taking a pay cut like we have to now it seems, and obviously their bonuses will be stopped to as we need to cut costs!Duesouth wrote: ↑15 Jun 2022, 16:59Says it all really. What the CEO he is underpaid he is forced to rob food banks and can only afford to get to work 3 days of the week and claim Universal Credit of £142,000 a year!Whinealot wrote: ↑17 Jun 2022, 02:43Correct we don’t have a direct competitor!
