Ours also started yesterday. I lost my duty so I am now all over the place. Got put on a round I've never done before, duty holder went sick so i was in my own then given lapsing to do first!! Boss wanted to know why I wouldn't be able to complete. Did the best I could and came back with the rest. I may have got it done if it hadn't been for the lapsing

as a general thought and not sure if others agree - but I've never liked this term 'Boss'. A skilled manager's job is to manage us using managerial skills which hopefully err more towards reasoning and persuasion than coercion or demanding. A Boss sounds like they boss people around and their word is the only one that counts. That's just me though.

Oh, I absolutely agree. No-one will be my boss. I will be no-one's boss. The resemblance to a master and slave relationship is far too stark.

PS - and no, to anticipate the predictable comment from you know who, even if they're paying me, they're still not my boss.

I use the word boss as I can't use more derogatory terms.!!.. he may think he is the boss doesn't mean he gets away with what he wants though. I dont use the word manager as he doesn't manage either

Our revision went "live" today. 4 walks in our section gone, the 2 duty holders (as 2 were absorption) have to resign and kick someone off another duty. But then RM are paying 2 people to do the big trackeds to compensate for the extra drops on the rounds, so as far as I can tell this revision is costing RM 2 extra wages...

If two works are gone that's two jobs and they have been replaced by two parcels duties, aren't you just even on the number of staff?

Not quite, if the 2 duty holders had been moved to packet duties it would be so, but the duty holders are currently plugging the holes elsewhere as reserves so 2 casuals are coming in to do the packets. If they'd left the duties as they were, (with smaller absorption and big packets) they'd be more achievable and RM wouldn't need to pay people to do the packets

Ours went live today. Just about got done on time so the manager stated he wanted to add a few more loops to the duty

Their boss has probably decided that not enough hours were removed and ordered them to remove even more hours

You are correct in scanning the York, but the items inside don't have to be scanned. Each york is destined for a certain D/O and is only passing through the mail centre. These are yorks going from the North West hub. There is also cross docking at the hub.

We started having to scan everything in them yorks a good few weeks ago, I believe the missort levels were too high. They won't get literally wheeled off of one lorry and onto another anyway as all yorks and sleeves that get loaded onto the lorries for the DO runs get condensed down

I'll tell you how it goes next week. We have a 6 week rotation and last time I arrived at a certain midlands mail centre, they scanned the yorks and they went straight onto the 600's to the D/O,s.
This was 6 weeks ago and as you say, thing's might have changed.

One positive with these ridiculous revisions is that it will surely now be in our favour that no manager should be telling us 'this is achievable' or 'Boris can clear it in time so you should too'....they should fully expect posties to bring a lot back each day.

So it should be much easier to bring stuff back as no1 should question you. This takes the time pressure off our shoulders. A lot of people used to rush around cutting corners by doorstepping etc so they could finish their duty and go home on time with no hassle from management. Now, as you aren't going to get your job done within time - you might as well do the job properly and also avoid any consequences from doorstepping or other complaints.

This will mean we deliver less.

On top of this, with all the backlash from Royal Mail prioritising parcels - posties don't feel guilty about bringing tracked parcels back.

Always found it strange that if you put down to go over by half hr, the reaction of the lino was vastly different to if you say I'm cutting off, will probably bring half hrs back with me. Same thing but because you're cutting off they always tried to convince you that you could finish it.

My frame has been changed today to add on just the 2 hrs + from a now defunct rural delivery that has been the victim of the revisions, they did take 20mins off so that OK then

Did I mention the duty was unachievable before this extra 2 hrs was added, mind boggling stuff.
