Just Googled quickly and found something interesting:

From: https://business-insolvency-helpline.co ... istration/
During this process, the administrator is required to prioritise the payment of certain debts, such as employee wages and benefits, over other unsecured debts. This means that employees of the company should continue to be paid as normal, unless the administrator determines that there are insufficient funds available to meet these obligations. It is worth noting that the administrator has the power to make changes to the terms of employment, such as reducing wages or altering working hours, in order to try to improve the financial position of the company.
That bit that I've highlighted makes me wonder if the board want RM to enter administration as could that give them carte blanche to force through loads of stuff like Sunday working not being voluntary, all delivery staff needing to be able to drive. Staff having no choice if loaned to another office, all allowances reduced or gone? There's probably other stuff that they would like to force through if they could
Which is why we need to tread carefully. The company obviously have an agenda and like you have pointed out, administration could be a quick route to their end game.

I’m beginning to think that the longer the union don’t accept a deal the worse off we will be.
What will the company Directors actually gain from putting it into administration, surely they'll be the first to be shown the door by the Administrators and also lose all their share options, or at least most of the value of the shares?

Possibly they could buy back the company on the cheap but there's no guarantee that'll be the case if there's better offers made from other suitors.

You Don't seriously think they want to go into administration just to get changes forced through do you.
With the way they've acted over the last few months I wouldn't put it past them
We are dealing with very sinister people here this is not a game but dog eat dog people they would kill you without blinking!
If RM went into administration it would have no board of directors unless someone bought it. Like a Czech for £1.
Why would they sell GLS, which is part of IDS, for £1, I'm pretty sure they'd want the full value of £2B/3B for that side of the business?

Im not too clued up on admin etc but I assume when people talk about administration of RM they mean the RM part of IDS

Which doesnt include GLS

So RM in administration rather than IDS in administration
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

If I was to judge them like sinister business men (say emperor palpatine!) then I would say that they were paid hundreds of millions in shares/bonuses this year to make up for their losses this year and in turn build the company back in their image.

Otherwise I’m also not sure what they would gain by the company going bust

A business losing £1m a day still stuck with the USO might not even be worth £1, if it was then DK might not be the only interested party anyway.

A company cannot just divest its self of it's assets or debts changing a name is is like changing gender these days but still will not absolve the problems caused by mismanagement of the whole company or the state of the nation!

Is it just not RMs way of obtaining the 5 day letter uso that their whole business plan is based on, by making current uso obligations untenable and failing nationally. Surely it would have to be the whole group that would go into administration and not just the parts they don’t want.

It is Royal Mail that is making the USO untenable with pushing their non USO premium products at the expense of the USO.

If the government took back control of Royal Mail then its NON USO tracked premium service will be the first casualty

The blame is on both Royal Mail and its employees equally

If the dispute is to move forward both sides need to acknowledge that
