It’s obvious huge mistakes have been made by the people running the company and all of them should go but any other senior management team will want the sane outcomes as the current ones.
We aren’t a public service anymore in fact we haven’t been for a very long time and we have to be honest most people couldn’t give a damn about getting mail six days a week. Parcels yes letters no.

So no, people aren't fussed by and large about getting mail 6 days a week.
Most people on a Sunday don't know their parcel is coming on a Sunday, or that we even work on a Sunday.
The business model is fxxked. We're spinning so many plates trying to be all things to everyone and it just won't work.
Too many managers doing f all most of the day. Everyone knows that 2 or even 3 days worth of letters doesn't take a massive amount of time more than one. Certainly not 2 or 3 times longer! We need to cut jobs, only deliver letters 3 days a week, become profitable again and reward our staff. All this protect jobs thing the CWU are hung up on will not work. They should be on board with getting rid of the USO to become competitive again and negotiate a VR package for all who want it.

Exactly, there's more than enough people who would walk for a price to get the numbers more like what the business would need if they delivered letters 3 days a week.postieblueshirt wrote: ↑19 Mar 2023, 21:12Well they had 5 volunteer's in my place including me and none of us got it.If they want rid of people hurry the f**k up.rambo1 wrote: ↑19 Mar 2023, 21:05Last time I delivered 3 days worth of mail I apologized to the woman and explained that the only reason she was getting the mail today was because she had a tracked parcel (before you say, I know, we don't prioritize parcelsNickvilla20 wrote: ↑19 Mar 2023, 20:48My current office has some of the worst vans I’ve ever seen. I think a five day letter service maybe the best compromise anything less and it would put the majority under pressure to complete everyday.rambo1 wrote: ↑19 Mar 2023, 21:05Last time I delivered 3 days worth of mail I apologized to the woman and explained that the only reason she was getting the mail today was because she had a tracked parcel (before you say, I know, we don't prioritize parcelsNickvilla20 wrote: ↑19 Mar 2023, 20:48My current office has some of the worst vans I’ve ever seen. The union want to keep the numbers high for a few reasons. More clout and more membership fees. I’m still support the union and I champion trade unions but I do feel there is some self interest going on.
They could get rid of over 10000 overnight on the VR terms they’ve just offered with an aging workforce and the job been more physically demanding for many it’s a no brainer. Just look at the take up of the last offer.
If a five day letter service also meant people getting more Saturdays off then that could also sway a few more people.

Why would Royal Mail negotiate a better vr package when people are queuing up to leave on the proposed terms. In fact it seems they are leaving in their droves for no pay out at all. Any pay out that can be negotiated must surely be for those who stay and actually do the work.

Re: Backdated Pay Guessing Game
That's what I meant, they should have been negotiating 20-30000 job cuts under VR terms way back and cutting letter delivery days via a joint plea to the government. As you pointed out, probably too late now. A lot of people therefore have been potentially shafted by the CWU.
