The real question is why are trying sell us out.
Answer?
Because RM wanted to take the cwu out the workplace .
As Andy fury said "it a hostric deal and the cwu are back in the workplace "
Says it all really.sell out the staff so the cwu can keep a position in the workplace ...you then just become a workers association..
You lot should be ashamed to call your selves a union .
Vote no and remove rhe shitsters on pec .
Do you not see that by taking the reps out of all workplaces you are silencing the voice of all workers in any individual unit.
We are all part of the union and the reps are our voice in workplace.
Very few if any industries have reps on every shop floor.
Life could be allot more uncomfortable if they were all removed.
Bullying and harassment would increase tenfold. It benefits every member to have a unionised workplace.
Maybe it's not everyone's experience but reps often succeed in reigning in power hungry overzealous managers.
We don't want that to stop, so it is a victory for us all.
My wife’s a teacher and union representative in schools is basically zero. The Education unions talk a good game but in reality they are none existent in the work place.
If we didn’t have reps in the workplace no way would the turnout would have been as high as it was.
The union my wife is in couldn’t even make the 50% fresh hold meaning they couldn’t strike. It’s says a lot when people can’t even be bothered to put a cross in a box and put a letter in a postbox.
Exactly, it is similar in most workplaces.
It is why the company and Mr Thompson have set out to systematically destroy the CWU from top to bottom.
I know some reps are better than others and maybe some places are light on representation.
Although the deal is a hard sell in places the framework of the deal gives the union a voice on every element of our working lives moving forward.
This is definitely a positive and shouldn't be overlooked.

Thompson soul aim was to destroy the union at whatever cost. He’s failed on that but from what I can see on here and on social media looks like we are doing that job for him.
It’s not a good deal but did we expect anything else. To go back to schools teachers are paid by bands and to get a to the next band you have to do a performance management. Plenty of times schools suddenly move the goalposts on teachers when it comes to performance management and that don’t go up the pay scale and because the unions are so weak there is usually nothing they can do about it.
I’m not sure what’s going to happen I personally don’t like the deal but with the current situation of the company and the economy in general I’m not sure they could have done any better.
Sadly we aren’t seen as an essential service anymore i think striking showed that.

Many DOs don't have reps as it is. From a sheet on our union board that lists who hold what union position in all offices in the area only about 3-4 DOs have got reps
7. The reason seasonal variations is necessary is that traffic is not the same in all periods of the year. In the Summer it normally drops by circa 20% and yet we have the same number of walks and duties. This normally means Royal Mail increase absorption during the summer. By reducing to 35 hours both parties believe this will reduce the need for absorption and will be jointly working to ensure this.
WHAT!!!???!!! Are these people even awake!!!
Absorption doesn't exist anymore, instead our frames have 40 minutes extra work on them.
There is no way you can clear any frame within your duty span at any time of the year. So adding 40 minutes of work to each frame means at least 40 minutes of work is left in each frame each day, but you want to reduce 'Summer' days by 25 minutes? - this means over an hours work will be left in each frame everyday.
Can you people not do basic maths?
Unless there's some imminent plan to reduce letters massively - then I don't know what planet the people who write this are on. Is Royal Mail going to start refusing to deliver any type of junk mail, or massively increase stamp prices to £2 a stamp? because mail volumes need to drop at least 30% for these duties to be completable in our times.
The flex issue is deliberately vague , no way Royal Mail will allow this to stay voluntary like previous agreements the union know this , which would mean another 30 mins in the cold dark winter days along with the 24 mins already added. Sick pay is a complete sell out , agreeing to ssp is bad enough but agreeing to making stage reviews stricter is unbelievable.
If it's too dark to deliver surely you should be allowed to refuse to carry on delivery. They always tell us that if we think something is too risky - then do not deliver. ie. wet slippery driveways, homes with building works, dogs.... if it's too dark then refuse to deliver the last 30 minutes of the round.
I know there are plenty of houses out there with uneven paving, overgrown gardens, building going on so bricks/sand etc on the driveway. There's one house I know of where you could easily fall into a pond and one where you could fall into a hole where their basement window is.

Youd peobably be instructed to get letters done in day light and when it gets dark just do parcels (like Amazon)
There would still be reps in the do's and MCs.
They sold us out to protect the reps that sitt in office all day ...
What that would mean is the div reps and area reps would be back on the day job .but they would still be reps .
They just wouldn't be able to organise properly at national and area level .but that's the cwu fault they don't train there reps and educate them as they should .this is the very reason I'm not a rep and thank full now that I didn't touch the job after seeing what the cwu really think of us

That’s not feasible as the rounds now are so big. You will just be told to leave the letters in the frame or cut off.
I’ve spoke to colleagues at work today and cannot find anyone who will vote for the agreement. As a rep I will not recommend this deal
It looks like we’re going into uncharted territory because there is no way this is voted through.
The silent majority who don't care any more will defy the no vote being banded about by the minority that care enough to fight and shout.
There's no winners either way, declining industry, worsening job, accept job security or go get a better one

What’s the point in the union still having a voice in the workplace if they are not going to listen to their members and sell them out with deals like this ? Royal Mail are ploughing ahead regardless of union involvement or not.

This may be the case for many and I accept that.
It is a role that comes with allot of extra responsibility and little reward so most do not wish to do it.
Every office I have worked at has had a rep and sometimes an assistant.
Some are better than others but they have all actively defended members rights at various times.
Even if it isn't transparent to see many of these managers behave differently knowing they will be scrutinized by the reps for their decisions and management style.
We really don't want to lose that influence we have in operations across the board.
Will only affect us negatively.

This agreement keeps the union at the top table in all decisions that are made on the shop floor.
I know the deal isn't great, but I would argue the union still having a power of influence in the offices gives members across all operations a voice for at least the duration of this agreement.
I've been in royal mail for over 30 years and this just the latest in a long list of poor deals brokered by the union. The CWU has made some pretty poor decisions over the years, but this deal as a whole is more or less a surrender document.
