so by 11am tomorrow we'll know if we are striking or voting on a deal.

Hopefully they got a better pay deal and limited later starts times to 30mins.
Just as a matter of interest, all these people kicking off about later start and finish times because of the school run. What did you used to do with your kids when we started working at 5am? End of the day, we work full time , longer daily hrs than kids are at school so you're gonna miss either taking them or picking them up. You can't do both as kids are only at school for say, 6 hrs.
Think some people are just not open to even entertain the idea of changing work times. You've got to look at the positives it could bring but I guess on this forum I'm preaching mainly to a deaf brainwashed congregation.
You have a fair point I’ve been working for Royal Mail for getting on 40 years and when I was a delivery postman my starting times was 5am and NTG added prep was an hour before so it was a 4am i never got to take kids to school and my SA’s meant I very rarely picked them up! Did it bother me? Not a bit! Did it bother my kids? They couldn’t have cared any less!
As for the this forum I tend not to really take much notice and only contribute very rarely and every now and then you do get a valid opinion that is from someone who acts levelheaded but there is a growing number who probably have the arse with life in general and this is their release valve because at the moment there is a genuine reason for that anger! All I keep reading is “strike” “strike” “strike” “we need to strike” “we need to call strike dates” “strike until we bring the company down” “where’s the brazier we need to strike” and has it done any good so far? Absolutely not we are still in the same position as we were last April! These people at the top don’t give a shite if you “strike” you are dealing with the type of people who have blatantly lied and been caught lying on numerous occasions even under oath not to lie (sorry mislead just in case these people are snooping which apparently they do!) they still seriously mislead!
These are the people that have openly admitted to braking the law and evidence has been presented to them and they still deny all knowledge!
These are the people who have made a statement of “if the strikes continue we will put the company into administration” seriously how can you work with a group of people that come out with statements like that? all to break their workforce’s morale!
We have a CEO that actively picks fights with individuals on social media which has been pulled up by government politicians
We lost our leverage with strikes at Christmas 2022 and this lot will probably encourage us to strike because it gives them a reason to acknowledge to a government who loathes a unionised work force that they can’t run Royal Mail with the USO in place as it is which is what they’ve wanted to get rid of from day one! And they probably will get their wish!
I don’t know what the answer is to this monumental problem we have in front of us because these handful of individuals are obviously unapproachable and very arrogant! I just hope a prey mr ward and his team does? because weather you agree with them or not they are our only hope!.

Tbh a lot of posties on here are saying that as well. They would rather see the company go into administration and “burn” rather than accept a deal.
And you ask how I work with these people? I just crack on with my job and ignore the noise.

I think that's totally different a bunch of greedy parasites using it as a threat to get whatever they want and a group of loyal workers with decades of service!

I personally have loved being a postman of nearly 30 years and I am happy to call their bluff and sink the ship but according to you that makes me a selfish c#nt?

We are being attacked and I've seen so many people I never thought I would leave the business recently it's exactly what they want but I can see why many would jump now.

Our latest forced revision has left us delivering the least amount of actual work I've ever seen and it's embarrassing to think the managers are getting a bonus based on bringing in something that is a blatant disregard to the USO.

In exactly the same boat. Far from selfish totally agree with you as do the majority of the membership that the union seem to be ignoring.

new starters should not be a sticking point that is just the union trying to save future subs. new starters can see the t and cs and pay and decide if they want to do the job or not. not so much solidarity about with the people who want to strike and burn the company down and screw all the colleagues who need this job. a massive amount of selfishness has been hidden under the umbrella of the 'solidarity' facade most are out for themselves

It’s the biggest sticking point. No union or current worker should accept a two tier workplace. It’s absolutely unacceptable that people should be coming in on lesser terms. That lesser terms workforce will be the default in enough time.

Then you will either have to sign to that or leave. Absolutely a red line to me.

Yep, we have no early or late shift allowances and no paid meal breaks. Been like that for 20 years.....it's ALWAYS been a two tier workforce.

They have and still have accepted a two tier system already as much as they say they don't. As a few have pointed out, there are people still on allowances among other things.

You'd of thought they would have actually worked with the company to level out those that haven't been here for that long alongside the ones still getting allowances and work from there. You'll still have some resentment in the workplace when people find that postman are getting paid more money than them for doing the same job even if union somehow manages to get a deal in place here. The holiday pay was a kick in the balls to a lot of part timers, especially when the company increased that threshold last year too. Now the company doesn't even want to pay them the overtime neither so they are gonna feel this the most.

10% pay rise over 3 years is an insult whichever way they dress it up. Who in their right mind would vote yes for a real terms pay cut? Surely it’s time now to announce a one week walkout followed by work to rule and an overtime ban. Let’s get serious about it. No more pussyfooting.
Seriously, how many people do you know who have had an inflation matching pay rise? Apart from pensioners.
What they’re offering is nowhere near inflation. They plead poverty yet we’re all getting brand new bigger vans. It’s laughable and we have to carry on fighting

If it was good news, they would of announced it by now. As usual, it will be the regular 5pm Friday update of little to nothing
