Aye...but I'm sure by the time we get to the end of November strikes something will pop-up too delay, cancel or push them back some more. Can't help but feel Thompson is playing the joker character at the moment...and Ward is a long way from approaching with the bat mobile.
Yes, they will get a court injunction for BF / Cyber Monday.
We are being played here, and allowing a vote on the deal will likely backfire with a significant percentage voting to accept (could have been worse / “oh simon says he’ll let me have special hours cos i’ve gotta pick the kids up” etc)
It’s all over i think.
First point is speculation, we've already have multiple "all out" strikes, which have been legal, what makes Black Friday / Cyber Monday any different?
If a significant proportion of people vote to accept the deal, then the CWU would have a clear mandate to then go and agree a similar deal on behalf of their members.
Honestly, if people haven't realised by now that, we're going to have to accept a watered down version of the deal on the table (hopefully with a bit more money), then they need to wake up and smell the coffee.
So what is the CWU's alternative business plan we keep hearing about but have no details of?
“Posties are a community asset, the 5th emergency service, and we will be branching out into the Care sector with Posties making home visits and dispensing meds / wiping ar*se’s” etc
Announcing strike days at the end of November will do a lot of damage in and of themselves. They'll get headlines, set the narrative for a lazy media, and rattle the big retailers.
Is it where I'd hope we be right now? No. But I don't disagree with it.

Personally, I think these are much better tactics.
Balloting the members, so we can reject the offer, instead of the Company using that to drive a wedge between the CWU and staff. Balloting on the no confidence of Simon Thomson, that's an ego thing, it carries no actual weight, but it means he can't speak on behalf of his "team".
Increasing strikes to cover the most important trading times for the company, and giving them time to negotiate before then. Cancelling the pointless day strikes, that only serve to lose people money, and to be used as an excuse for the company to "further their agenda" and then blame the strikes.
Much better approach imo.
Agree. Even better if they get on and announce more December strike dates.

There will be a court injunction issued to halt black friday cyber monday strikes.
Just like there was on the xmas 2019 (maybe 2020) strike we had planned.
It’s big business for the UK economy and a court injunction WILL be granted.
BF/CM strikes WILL be stopped, as will any leading up to Xmas. (Proven past precedent)

These new dates make no sense to me, they talked about 48 hours of action but the second two are split.
They should have called,
26th and 28th
29th and 30th
Now they are calling the day before Black Friday and Black Friday itself when surely the days after when parcels are due to be delivered would be better.
I also don't see the point in the Wednesday and Friday after Cyber Monday, giving up Cyber Monday itself and the Tuesday to shift stuff.

That’s where I am after reflection. Thompson has been accusing the CWU of being stuck in the 1970’s, he has just been played at his own game by a vote being called. Also members are on notice of substantial action in December so have time to get some money in the bank.

Looks like they are in it with Simon,a Trojan horse.

On what grounds?
I dont remember but we balloted, called the dates are were all set to go out and BOOM! uk government ordered a court injunction to be granted to save xmas post.
It was xmas december 2019 or 2020

I'd like to see their reasoning, the day before Black Friday seems utterly pointless to me in particular.

That was on the basis of people opening their ballot papers and voting inside their offices and filming themselves
Chris Webb's fault that one - he told people to post pictures of themselves lining up to post back their ballot papers outside work at pillarboxes etc
