I do the job properly. I don’t start early I always have my full breaks and I don’t carry overweight bags.
In the coming revision I’ve had nothing added to my delivery. It’s probably helps it was already big and my PDA actuals back that up.
Still amazes me how many start early and take shortcuts.
But the question remains
Why are you carrying bags still and not using mandatory delivery equipment such as a LWT/HCT?,
I have an HCT round, my delivery is predominantly flats and using the HCT for the whole delivery is impossible as I can’t push it up stairs. I use the HCT when I can but pushing one of those round the whole delivery is worse than using a pouch.
Sympathies in what you are saying but that is not your problem
The key word being mandatory equipment.
You have no choice if you like using that equipment or not
If you used that mandatory equipment they would have probably taken a loop off your delivery
But agree you work out of the HCT if you have tower blocks with a pouch
Pushing a HCT round a whole delivery will do you more damage than carrying round a light bag with a few packets in.
Vans are at a premium in my office and my walk is the closest to the office hence the HCT and making it P&L with another walk would make it impossible to complete.
"Will you now do the job properly?" I can't believe some mugs in this company that continue to do this or are only doing this now cuz things are not going their way. Partly their fault we are in this mess in the first place because wanted to f**k off early only to royally screw everyone else over by craving the hours out the office. Funny that you don't even hear anyone now saying "to mind their own business" with people coming in early since with these revisions they are dumping loops to your walk whether you were initially finishing on time or not.
We on here have had some asking why the union is not doing this or that but you all everyone of you can do this this is not illegal nor will it be anyway need a ballot and is not industrial action nor can you be sanctioned for doing this here are the rules.
1 Start on time do not come in and work before your start time.
2 If you feel due to the nature of the workload that is left by the failure of management tell them you cannot complete
3 Take your meal relife/break before you go out.
4 Tell them if you think you cannot complete at the earliest possibility ie before you go out but traffic or other factors may affect this but do it!
5 Be back on time ie you need time to unload park the van hand keys in scan out be out of the building on time.
At the end of the day it is your life play the game that they have on the table it's not your fault they have made a hard job impossible all the best to you all!
Whilst I and many will no doubt agree ,you're wasting your time with many.they either dont understand how not doing as you say fxxks up the job, no matter how many times you tell them or they just arnt interested. And I do think if we all did the job correctly including trollies management would still be looking to cut and keep cutting hours.i mean, I bet there arnt many if any in processing cutting corners and its happening there too, happy to be corrected if people are?
It's true. In fact there is one particular guy in our office that continues to come in early and jokes about it. He couldn't even give a toss about anyone else long as he finishes early. He is one of the people that didn't even show up at the picket lines and slag off the union for not working. I'm bewildered why people even entertain him. I myself might be critical of some of the union actions no one is above criticism, not even the union. , However, long as you have complete tools like him still existing in this company, you got no chance of things changing in this company.
Some people will do everything possible to complete what they are allocated. It can be because of a sense of duty to the customer, but predominantly its because they are scared.Scared of confrontation with the manager, or scared of other postman nosying around their frame and taking the piss out of them not completing.Yes, some postman really are utter w*****s.

Dont you scan in and out at your office yet then ? Oddly enough we still have 1 or 2 that start before their time even though we scan in and out so cant go home early, even more bonkers!

EXACTLY !! same at our place and yes same idiots still coming in early and running around even though they have to stay till end of shift. She ruins every duty she goes in , makes it look do-able then the poor bugger that takes over her duty on the re-signs (and her floats) are frowned upon. Loads have asked our rep to stop her doing it but says hes powerless, cannot be bothered even acknowledging her - STRIKEBREAKER as well !
Lets face it some posties have had it easy for a good number of years, coming in early, finishing early, not taking their breaks and not working their full contracted hours. You wonder why we are all in the s**t mess we are in now

Coming in early and not taking your breaks is having it easy?
They shouldn’t be doing that but how can you say that’s having it easy?
Coming in on time and taking your breaks is easier than the above
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
Everyone on here talks about trolleys as though they're mandatory, but my induction videos and subsequent training only mentioned them as a one off thing "occasionally your work may be too heavy to carry, if you can't drive the packets round separately you may need to use a trolley." There's only about 7 in the building and there's over 200 walks.
We have a guy who shows up 20 minutes late, only does the bare minimum to get out as quick as possible and I think the latest he's ever finished is 12.30... keeps getting into arguments with managers as they say (correctly) that he's ruining it for everyone by making it look like there are more hours in the office than there are... He claims it's "not my fault I'm so good" but he openly and visibly cuts every corner he sees

At the last revision we got new trolleys for everyone, around 200, now there barely a dozen left, fook knows where they've all gone if the guy at your office is regularly late dosnt he get pulled up by a manager? And if hes finished at 12.30 hrs making 1.30 to 2hrs a day? I cant believe he isnt being made to stay to his time?
Someone said about a work to rule you don't need a ballot to do that but a personal resolution. It is you to make that choice of just doing the job properly and it is you who needs to finish on time and you alone who of your own free will to do any more or not!
Unfortunately in practice it would require a ballot because if loads start doing it, RM could construe it to be unofficial industrial action
They could try and construe it all they want
Individual choice
Prove otherwise
The proof would be X amount of staff in a DO were doing OT each week but now only Y amount are doing it? I doubt anything can be more accurate than the company OT records!
OT has now been stopped in our office for all so RM have effectively created 'unofficial industrial action', failures all over the place.
I’m on a 30hr contract. To this day I don’t know how or when I’m due a meal break. How do i find out?
30 minutes half way or before you go out.
in a clean environment where you can wash and get a hot drink
LOL, in our dreams, more likely the manky cabin of a van in a farmers lane, with the engine running to keep warm (why was your van idling for 20 mins?), or if you don't need the engine on having to start the engine every five minutes to keep the radio on because 'economy mode' is set up.
At least there's still plenty of hand sanitiser and wipes left over from covid that we can take out to wipe the manky cabin down
before we get our snap out.

For once I'll take your word on something. But, nobody has ever told me that LWTs are mandatory. My 'training' 5 years ago didn't mention it. Across 2 delivery offices I have only seen LWTs used extremely sporadically. I have used them fora week or so when with a bad back.
Also, if every postee in our DO was to ask for one the same day and refuse to go out without one there'd be a massive failure as there's probably only half a dozen due to a previous manager trashing them all because they ruined our productivity.
