Is that true? Please tell us or show us proof that this is correct.

I must say, I thought we would be paid SSP during illness, but after looking and reading myself, we don't get anything for the first 3 days, pure shocking.

That really needs clarifying as the clear suggestion seems to be that we'll get SSP not treated like we would if we just claimed SSP. Although not sure you can trust anything the business tells us

Despite what others have said i cant believe theyre seriously planning to not pay people who are ill ANYTHING for 1/2/3 days . . . just seems totally unacceptable to me.

A range of family friendly duty options with earlier finish times.

If these do in fact exist I'd expect demand to far exceed supply of them - there is a whole host of family related reasons, not just the obvious ones, that people want to keep the current finish times for.

Even they would start later as the mail would arrive at inward MC later, so get processed later and then go out to DOs later, so all start and finish times in DOs, as well as night shifts in MCs will be later

There is a reason that RM chose to say that only SSP would be paid for the first 3 days and that reason is that most people will not receive a penny of SSP for those days. Note that they specifically didn't say that they would pay an amount "equivalent to" SSP. They said that they would pay SSP.

RM clearly think that this will reduce the number of sickies taken. The reality is that it will make ill and injured people come to work and either pass on that illness or worsen any injury.

How can you be paid SSP for the first 3 days if you're not going to be paid anything at all, surely RM should say that sick pay will follow the same terms as SSP for the first 3 days, I feel this needs further clarification assuming the proposal isn't just kicked into touch at the latest talks.

Totally agree with the above... It will s confusing and it is not really SSP as such. SSP is about £99.35 and that is for a full week. So to say they will pay SSP meant, they will pay £99.35 for the 3 days off sick.
Or could it be £99.35/7*3 - an SSP rate.

They could and should make things clearer - either way, it is going to be £99 or nothing
