Re: Ot banned in our office this morning
One week after O/T ban and our office looks like Hiroshima, boxes and boxes of mail stacked up under and over and beside frames, think it might take to the 25 december to clear it ,whose bright idea was it to stop overtime in the busiest time of year,Thompson needs sacking he could of cost companies millions as their xmas magazines and catalogues will reach customers too late and who have already purchased gifts elsewhere what an absolute tool the bloke may have cost the economy billions,he should be imprisoned.

If we do strike for 2 days then return to work, the shite will be just piled up higher and higher.
The public will expect to be getting mail daily because we are back at work, but only a fraction of it will be going out. However, the mail will still be moving to some degree.
I don't see how that situation would win us a dispute.
It just makes for a terrible service and lighter pockets for us

I also find the Guys that have ONLY ever worked for RM (some since leaving school FFS) also spout this bollocks!
Just goes to show how effective brain washing can be. When Covid hit and we were failing half a dozen walks daily (we're not a large Office) these Old Guys were nearly in tears because, "We've let our Customers down", the Rep just said, "Feel Free to take out two duties worth of mail if it worries you that much"! Didn't have any takers surprisingly! .

So what do you suggest we do then? NOT STRIKE? Then you'll be providing a better service and not lose any money?POSTPERSON50 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 09:13

Do you not think that you're already losing money because you've ONLY been given a 2% payrise that's under inflation, so you're already working for less than you were last year. And IF you accepted the crappy 7% deal going into next year you'd still be losing money PLUS you'd be getting shafted over all the other changes to T&Cs!
The Strikes are not designed to build up a back log of mail, that's just a consequence. They're designed to build up pressure on the CEO! In this they've been sucessfull in that he's now back at the negotiating table.

No, we are working for 2% more than last year, unfortunatley everything costs more than that so it dosent go as far.Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 09:47

Come back after the strike and don't do overtime, take no notice of their threats, the bigger the mess the more chance of a resolution and a deal,we need to stop panicking about their threats they are there to break us ,stay strong,if the worse ever happens just remember there are plenty of jobs for the working class not so many for managers they have more to worry about than us.POSTPERSON50 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 09:13And this is without strike days.guardianangel wrote: ↑05 Nov 2022, 20:09One week after O/T ban and our office looks like Hiroshima, boxes and boxes of mail stacked up under and over and beside frames, think it might take to the 25 december to clear it ,whose bright idea was it to stop overtime in the busiest time of year,Thompson needs sacking he could of cost companies millions as their xmas magazines and catalogues will reach customers too late and who have already purchased gifts elsewhere what an absolute tool the bloke may have cost the economy billions,he should be imprisoned.

I am not sure that one of the effects of detonating a nuclear bomb over Hiroshima was that boxes and boxes of mail got stacked up beside frames.guardianangel wrote: ↑05 Nov 2022, 20:09One week after O/T ban and our office looks like Hiroshima, boxes and boxes of mail stacked up under and over and beside frames,
Perhaps I have always been too busy looking at the mushroom cloud to notice the state of the delivery offices.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

No, strike once. And strike decisively for a week. Stop pissing about with daft pointless ineffectual odd days.Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 09:47So what do you suggest we do then? NOT STRIKE? No better pressure on the CEO than the mail stopping entirely.

An overtime ban would have done more damage than any strike.

Exactly, 3 days of no overtime has caused more damage than all the strike days put together.POSTPERSON50 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 11:30Probably, as the strike action so far has barely caused a rippleclaretandblue wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 11:17An overtime ban would have done more damage than any strike.

Those proposed 'intense talks' are a smokescreen. No way on God's earth will Thompson backtrack on anything that he's already decided is definitely going to happen.claretandblue wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 11:34Exactly, 3 days of no overtime has caused more damage than all the strike days put together.POSTPERSON50 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 11:30Probably, as the strike action so far has barely caused a rippleclaretandblue wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 11:17An overtime ban would have done more damage than any strike.
We don't want a halfway compromise anyway.
50% of a shite future is still a shite future.
We cannot agree to any of his bollocks.

Re: Ot banned in our office this morning
That’s clearly not true as even the mention of strike dates has large customers switching to other couriers, the rolling strike dates would have had an impact even though they didn’t happen.POSTPERSON50 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 11:30Probably, as the strike action so far has barely caused a ripple
I’m in the middle on a work to rule/OT ban, whilst I’m not doing any myself I can see why people are. We don’t want people starving, premium products would still be delivered even with a work to rule.

Re: Ot banned in our office this morning
Well at least that's an opinion that I can respect. Although your posts come across as quite contradictory. One minute you're concerned about the quality of service and that you're losing money, next your very militant and want a whole weeks strike, then your worried the CWU will get us a shite deal!POSTPERSON50 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 11:13

I suggest you let our Negotiators do their job. They may not get everything we want but they'll get a damn sight more than ST wants to give us!
