Unreal. People are complaining about losing a days pay due to the strikes and then turn on and bitch about others that work their rest day even though those people have picketed on the lines!!! Working their rest day on a different day of the strike is not 'Scabbing it'. That's a FACT. For anyone who disagrees just mind your own businesses. If someone goes on strike and then decides to work their day off to make up the lost days pay then what is the problem? They're still on a flat 5 days pay. And they're certainly not doing anything wrong apart from angering people who probably have chips on their shoulders!!!!!!

I absolutely agree with this, I heard of a nearby d/o recently who refused overtime to be told by the union to stop and do it

overtime ban is needed (if it's even possible now though?) to let rm know that we're 10k full time overstaffed or not, but it won't happen, too many eggs in 1 basket as usual with no back up plan other than silly name calling on the most important youtube video ever

Reallly????? It undermines the strike action (which our union called for) but yet our union encourages us to work overtime where we have done before!!!

Do what you have to do mate and don't let the gobbies get to you. We can have the strikes stopped if RM can convince a court we are taking unoffical action by instigating an overtime ban.

This bloke hasn't budged an inch yet and I don't think he will.

While I hate personal abuse the whole essence of a strike is withdrawing your labour on the day we get it that they have agency staff ect. As to working you day off or overtime I am quite happy for you all as this is not about bankrupting our members who will inevitably be hit by a wall of mail. The whole action is against the proposals of Royal Mail and its intransigent stance. The whole action we are doing is to get RM round the table stop dictating and listen to the working man/woman. Strikes cause financial hardship but they also create unity and strength but also commaraderay and they make others think not just those in the ivory towers of RM but the customers who post the mail big customers.

It's a strange one to be honest. For example in our office we have a non-union member who works the strike days. This person only works their contracted hours, does no overtime. Then we have a union member who works their day off and does plenty of overtime but doesn't work strike days. The union member is doing more hours a week than the non-member who hasn't withdrawn their labour.

I look at it this way. Do what you have to to survive. There's different takes you can come up with. On one hand you have the people that are crossing the picket line and working the hours as normal. But, on the other side you have people coming in the next day doing an hour extra to clear 2 days worth. One is getting paid 6 hours for doing a day's work. Another is getting paid just an extra hour for doing 2 days worth of work. Kinda a head scratcher considering they want to change the USO to a 5 day service and kinda giving them what they want to little reward. I'm currently just working my hours and striking but know a lot of people can't do that. But, not gonna judge people or call them scans for crossing the picket line or doing overtime. End of the day, you could poke holes through both arguments on what is undermining the strikes and what isn't. The main thing is finding the balance focusing on yourselves but help each other out along the way.
