It might work to move pt staff to ft and not replace the outgoing staff in some places but leaving offices permanently short of staff and using more agency than necessary would be damaging and costly.

Generous? This is Royal Mail Chat Mate, are you sure you're posting in the right Forum? The last time I can remember them being generous was when they allowed me a days UNPAID leave to go to my Nans Funeral!

Maybe I’m being too cynical but…
We recently heard that they want to lose 400 hours out of our office as part of the current unagreed revisions. That roughly equates to losing 10 full time jobs. There are over 900 offices. They want annual revisions. Isn’t it quite possible that their plan has always been to reduce the workforce by 10,000 people in the announced timeframe and they are just taking the opportunity to announce it now to shift the blame onto the CWU and scare people into considering abandoning strike action?

It definitely seems the case, they showed their hand by announcing the office revisions a few months ago, the redundancy now announced seem to fall into the line with the hours the proposed cutting. If they want every round covered each day, on a good day, I can't see they can cut more jobs.Zicomurphy wrote: ↑14 Oct 2022, 16:22Maybe I’m being too cynical but…

Totally agree with zicomurphy. My manager mentioned months ago, after a string of meetings about revisions etc, that he believed with the new changes to separate large parcels from mail that there would be job cuts, mainly on the mail side. Also don't forget they want to close callers down. I don't think this is a result of the strikes I think it was already planned and now they're using the strikes as an excuse to the media.
