This gets more bizarre by the day , Martin Walsh on the radio today saying how we can play a role in social care moving forward.He also says union are up for a discussion regarding dropping the Saturday but not reducing to 3 or 4 day service.

This year, next year maybe the year after but it will happen.

Rishi has said he will not countenance a move to a 5 day service. He probably won't countenance a 250 million/year bailout either.

it will happen, not straight Away but change is coming, the union will be calling it a win now if only the Saturday gets dropped.

If he has any intelligence. I think I said on here once that the ideal scenario for a business is to do nothing and require people to pay for it (regression back to the feudal rentier economy). Pretty rich of a formerly state-owned enterprise privatised barely a decade ago to throw that idea out there. Socialism for shareholders!

Labour win the election this year , the new government, Royal Mail , ofcom and the CWU will come to an agreement that dropping the Saturday is the best solution for everyone, mark my words.

That is exactly what will happen.

I also think people should take note that RIshi didnt oppose any change. He just said no to dropping Saturdays. Could very well mean an every other day service would be acceptable to him forgetting the fact half the country would still not receive post on a Saturday.

Though what is more likely is he knows they are f****d going into the next GE and don't want this also looming over them.

Labour mp on sky this morning, we want to up hold the uso but Royal Mail needs to change to survive, so basically a green light to drop the Saturday if needed.

I think everyone knows RM needs to change to survive, but I would expect a true Labour MP to be pushing for renationalising the service rather than repeating tory lines.

Ofcom on sky this morning, consultations will run until April and they will announce options at end of the year . All of this falls right into the timescales of a general election. Our current agreement runs up to April 2025 , so we can expect it all to change from that point is my guess.

How is it his fault when numbers are falling....It's those running the business into the ground,being blind and not investing that's ruining the job.
Before automation the numbers were huge, fast forward to a digital age,where no-one needs to get out of bed or leave the house anymore is it no wonder the jobs shrunk.
They wanted a parcels business to make money,not a letters delivery and they are not making as much profit now on parcels,so what happens now is their doing not the unions or us at the front line...
