I get on fine with my work colleagues, did you hate yours?
We're slowly being replaced by casuals as people leave the business for whatever reason

I'm sure you'll do decades of delivery. Or probably not because you're an MC employee, that thinks DO work is easy lol

I don't think deliveries in 5 years time tops will look anything like they are today. I think that some sort of franchising/owner-driver will come in at some point. Do you really think RM would want any of us in deliveries when they're getting people in on the new contracts who are a lot cheaper to employ?

Neither do I. What I do think is any and every MC duty that doesn't involve driving HGVs will be automated very shortly. Then people like yourself can either take a duty at a DO or leave the 'business'SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑25 Dec 2023, 00:03I don't think deliveries in 5 years time tops will look anything like they are today. Letters will never be fully automated, RM have decomissioned some machines around the country, if they were going to automate them, they'd go for machines that could sequence flats, letters and somehow D2D as well. That would eliminate most indoor time in DOs, there'd still be some manual that the machines reject.mwalker88 wrote: ↑25 Dec 2023, 02:09Neither do I. Packet machines have a fair bit of stuff that they can't sort, don't know what the reject rate is like because we've not yet got a packet machine.
If RM did manage to automate everything you won't have duties in DOs, you'd just get allocated what you are to deliver that day and you'd have virtually the whole shift to deliver it in.

Most DOs in our area don't have a rep, and most shifts in the MC don't have a rep either. I do wonder if for many above local level if they consider the union to effectively be non existent.guardianangel wrote: ↑26 Dec 2023, 18:26No one listens to this bloke anymore, only got in on a 13% turnout its worse than rishi sunak, wait until the time changes in April and the mass exodus and the new starters wont join the union on the inferior contracts they got,cwu finished we know it ,they know it and royal mail know it.

Great comments Rm must love this bickering between functions divide and conquer but yet when I was stood on the gate 18 months ago we all stood side by side whatever function we worked in and yes we did get a shocking deal and the union are finished we still need representation if u drop a bollock or in the s**t guidance in these circumstances is priceless

Firstly, I left the union, just to get that straight.sweepster70 wrote: ↑15 Dec 2023, 10:47Two very dangerous and selfish comments, by two people who have no idea what would actually happen to us without Union representation.
Advising the majority it would be a good idea to come out of the Union. It really beggars belief.
We have a major issue in our office, management completely doing their own thing regardless. Wages docked for no reason. Area union rep responded.
" I don't want to get involved"
