I would love to know what our COM does for 8 hours a day. Im still yet to witness anything I would consider work that is driving the operation forward.

Who actually agrees in the first place to an app to measure performance especially one with Royal Mail ? oh yes the CWU and 70 % voted for it,jeez you couldn't make this s--t up. Im just staying for the fun and to see how long i can stay on purple,if we all make it our objective to get on purple we can see how long it will last.

It’s disingenuous to blame people voting yes that this app exists. This app and other changes will happen regardless of how we voted.

Personally I will never look at the app as I’m not at all interested in it and I would advise other to do the same.

I voted NO but I think this would have come into play eventually at some point. RM would have implemented it as a performance and productivity enhancing tool... its not an fundamental change to T&C's such as the assault on sick pay etc..

The union does not get and never has had a veto on change, it does not have shares in the company or seats on the board. It has no legal rights to agree or disagree with any change.

The only power it has to influence change comes from you and me. That's all it can do, try to continue to have some kind of voice to influence the changes that Royal Mail will still inevitably make with or without union involvement.

You can justifiably argue that they are not being listened to and maybe need to change tactics although their options are limited but they did not at any point have the option of just saying no to the app or anything else for that matter.

Smart businesses run by competent people listen to unions not because they have to but because they realise that change and recovery goes far more smoothly if the staff are engaged and feel they are being listened to.

I think all the evidence from poor Q&S, the financial condition of the business and the recruitment and retention crisis points to the fact that this is not a smart business run by competent people. This is not really something the union can do much about unfortunately.

How far the business sinks before the board realise its gone down a dead end is anyone's guess but I don't have much hope for the future of Royal Mail and I think this silly distraction of an app is the least of our worries, my experience from being a trial office is that a great deal of the data is bogus, seems to fluctuate on a daily basis and doesn't align with reality. It's a shiny thing that management will soon tire of once they realise that they have to navigate six other systems and verify the data before they can even have a conversation about something purple.

A Unions main strength is through collective bargaining and this is what brought about the deal. In this BR&T agreement the Union have agreed the use of technology relating to the PDA app/tile. However, it does state that they will take into account frontline staff feedback.

And my feedback is that its a load of b**ocks. RM want to use it, not for H&S and to remind us how many dogs and slippery paths there are, but to monitor us and coach us on our performance just like Amazon do.

We all lost

Those with six figure salaries at the head of our union didn't lose even when they called us out on strike. Neither did the screws.

Can you name an employer who doesn't want to monitor their staff's performance?
Where, aside from the Premier League, can you be consistently useless at your job and still expect to bank your wages without comment?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
