Re: Union updates
What agreement?
Simon Thompson is playing hard ball and not budged with his demands and crossed the CWU red lines.
He is still demanding things such as sunday working

Re: Union updates
In the view of RM the "customer" is the sender not the recipient. The senders want later collections so more orders are fulfilled that day.Jen1 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 20:04The working hours were the main reason a lot of us joined Royal Mail
Now they’re turning it into a 9 til 5 job, even the agency staff they’ve got working have been saying no to working later due to childcare issues
The customers don’t want their parcels and mail later, I know I get complaints when I work overtime and people tell me they’ve waited in all day
If we’re working later are they going to shorten our rounds to take into account the school traffic? Does anyone know?
Also what about all the small businesses that shut at 4pm are they going to rearrange the routes so we can get there before they shut?
I’m prepared to work Sunday but only if I get the Saturday off and I’d want plenty of notice
It’s all about the conditions for me, I’d settle for a 0% pay rise if conditions stay the same

Re: Union updates
Those new attendance times are bad enough for a start never mind the rest of it, it's been mentioned numerous times before but during winter we'll be working 1-2 hours in the dark.

Re: Union updates
Every single bit of that is completely unacceptable. Time to announce the December strike dates.
By the way, do people realise that Satutory Sick Pay rates for the first 3 days actually means zero pay for the first 3 days?

Yes totally unacceptable.
Note that the finish time could be any time past that with the 30 mins and if a commitment to deliver....who knows.

When to start paying SSP
SSP is paid when the employee is sick for at least 4 days in a row (including non-working days).
You cannot count a day as a sick day if an employee has worked for a minute or more before they go home sick.
If an employee works a shift that ends the day after it started and becomes sick during the shift or after it has finished, the second day will count as a sick day.
You do not pay an employee SSP for the first 3 working days they’re off sick unless either:
the period they were away from work started before 25 March 2022 and they were off sick because of coronavirus (COVID-19)
they received SSP within the last 8 weeks, and that already included a 3-day waiting period before you paid them SSP
So by my reckoning if m, after your first ( fully paid ) absence, you are off again you would only get SSP for the first three days of that absence if it was for more than three days in a row
If you had already been off before and go sick for say two days you would get nothing
Doesn’t matter if that previous fully paid absence was 1 day or 1 week - once you’ve had your 1 fully paid absence that’s you
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: Union updates
A range of family friendly duty options with earlier finish times.
If these do in fact exist
I'd expect demand to far exceed supply of them - there is a whole host of family related reasons, not just the obvious ones, that people want to keep the current finish times for.
