How many depots have clock in and out systems? We were told we would be getting these 2 years ago, but we have nothing. Surely to manage something like this they will need to install a carded gate system in every workplace.

To have less lapsing in our office they would need to fill all the vacant walk that are left in daily plus bring back reserves to cover holidays . But we know that won’t happen

Yep - managers will be monitoring every postie to make sure they're doing their rounds at the 'correct' speed - if they don't get banked hours out of you in summer, they'll accuse you of working too slowly and deliberately taking your time, which they'll undoubtedly consider an offence worth conducting you.SMS1969 wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 19:59It’ll be a total turnaround, managers in charge and telling you how long it’s expected to take.No cutting off. And they’ll be delighted to tell those who they feel are deliberately slow and cut off at the moment. Anyone who thinks this won’t happen is kidding themselves.Lots if arguments ahead.Minischoles wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 19:38Yup, as I said when they first announced this it's a move to making deliveries a salaried position; you have your work to do, and you do it no matter how many hours it takes.Zicomurphy wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 19:29You won’t leave anything at the office because you can’t finish early because you will not have a finish time. You take it all and finish when you have cleared everything.
No cut offs, no overtime - you have your job and you do it, whether it takes 5 hours or 10 hours.
And you'd better believe they'll be watching everyone like a hawk as well - they want you banking hours in summer, so they'll be monitoring constantly for any slacking off or working slow.
They want to be able to sack the workers they think are too slow, so they can steadily replace them with new starters.
They want it to be like Hermes and Amazon; minimum wage slaves literally running around delivering mail, too afraid to even stop to have a piss lest you don't meet the metrics they set, literally working until you're so stressed and sick you quit and then they replace you with the next wage slave.

Re: RMCtv : No cut offs - ever - You take it out - you deliver it all.
No thanks to that daft idea.
In the video, this twat gives and an example of 32hr/w during the summer and ‘peak’ times of 44hr/w. Since FT contracts are 37hr, during the summer time we are ‘saving / banking’ 5hrs per week, but the peak times, we will be working and extra 7hrs, instead of the 5hrs banked. Somewhere they have gained an extra 2hrs.
Not sure where they get the idea of a lighter times during the summer, surely the rushed in revisions we had last year to make sure all the duties were equal, making us work to our contracted time, and in a lot of cases, over and or cut off due to unmanageable workloads.
In our office, we were told that once the revision comes in, there would be parcel duties and no lapsing. Guess what? No parcel duties and we lapse when time allows, for me Mondays and Tuesdays.
Commitment to deliver? What a load of b*llox I would love to see this guy, commit to doing these proposals in real life, out on delivery, in the blistering sun, pi**ing down with rain, gale force winds, ice, snow and in the dark. I’m sure he would last 5 mins before he starts crying wanting back in his office to shuffle bits of paper around his desk.
How will they keep track of the banked hours? by who? and when? Get payment 3 times a year, can you trust your DIM to put down the correct hours without the odd hour being *forgotten* to be put down or hours added? I can see arguments galore about that.
I’ve said this before, but I wish these plums would not state we have competition, as we don’t. I am unaware of any other company, that delivers letters and parcels. The likes of Amazon, DHL, Hermes etc, only deliver parcels. They might have 2 or 3 parcels for each road, then they move onto the next road in their van. We don’t, have to deliver mail and parcels to each of the houses down that road by walking.

It's starting to smell a lot like Amazon.
No set duty pattern, the computer turns out that days delivery and you have to do it come rain shine or traffic jam.
Well done to all those bell ends who've come in early, worked for free, run around like headless chickens, not used trolleys and generally killed the job because they wanted to ghost overtime or sneak out early. Oh and lets not forget the incompetent managers that let them get away with it.
Together both groups have killed their own jobs.

At great expense and time, I have transcribed the video, text in 1st post.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

In the video one of the first questions is what happens with staff that come in early and finish early, they say they will bank these hours as they finish early, maybe postman can get thatFannybaws wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 16:35It's starting to smell a lot like Amazon.

Well said, we're infested with them now, wasn't always the case but a few transfers in from elsewhere coupled with some recent starters and we've now got a very small dwindling minority of folk who start on time.Fannybaws wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 16:35

Eh ! Of course not, if you start early for free then that's a bit silly, if you're late for work then you should expect the appropriate punishment as specified in the attendance code, if you finish late then see all above comments for info.2yearpostie wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 17:48So if you come in late and finish later than your time your suppost to then it goes in your favour?woofwoof wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 17:41In the video one of the first questions is what happens with staff that come in early and finish early, they say they will bank these hours as they finish early, maybe postman can get thatFannybaws wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 16:35It's starting to smell a lot like Amazon.

Are they still keeping shared vans then? What if your partner is slow and holds you up on every loop and you just can’t get it done. What about part timers who work with full time are they upping their contract? What about safety walking Down lanes behind shops and alley ways in pitch dark. It’s farcical they can feck off. If this is agreed it will be carnage

Spot on! I’ve been saying this for years they’ve killed the job and these idiots are still coming in early and carry heavy bags on there back just to save time, pratsFannybaws wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 16:35It's starting to smell a lot like Amazon.

You'd think p/t contracts don't exist in RM as there's not been one mention of how the changes will apply to a typical 25 hour p/t'er, unless they don't apply and this is all just an attempt to force experienced f/t staff to quit.matthew68 wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 21:10Are they still keeping shared vans then? Plus how do the new starters 40 hrs contract fit into the plans as they will be working 3 hours longer a week than an experienced f/t, or does the 3 hours extra mean they'll get 30 mins longer a day to clear their walks, as they'll probably be slower than an experienced f/t'er?
