Our terms and conditions are still very good. Our pension scheme is still very good. The job is demanding but has a start and finish time.
The office politics are unbearable.
The job isn't getting any better but if you have the right mindset, it is a well paid job for delivering stuff.
The new contracts are worse but they aren't the end of the world. (No matter what anyone says)
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

i had a health setback but ive recovered.i left before all the striking and i know how much strife posties have gone through and the awful time theyve had but i generally enjoyed the job,the excercise, meeting customers and the pay wasn’t bad but concerned about how many changes are coming into force like later finish times, sunday working and cuts to sick leave.my mate says his office is so bad with so much being brought back, managers who dont care and full frames of mailclashcityrocker wrote: ↑04 Aug 2023, 19:12Why did you leave?emu72 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2023, 17:37Just a question (and please serious answers only please).i left the job a year ago but was looking at rejoining.i know im looking at a different contract from what ive had before but would coming back really be a bad move with all the changes.ive been offered full time and because its a job i know and the money is better than what im on(and of course we all need more money) thats why i was considering it.

I haven’t seen any yes voters complaining on here anyway. I don’t think he is the brightest spark to be honest, as his posts frequently contain more smilies than they do letters. He offers nothing of substance.aiden01 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2023, 22:23Seriously all that from the biggest moaner an abuser on here wtf.CRIBMAD wrote: ↑04 Aug 2023, 19:07THEY ALREADY ARE !!!!!guardianangel wrote: ↑02 Aug 2023, 15:21Its too late we already voted to get f****d over, this time next year the money will have all been spent and the yes voters will be moaning like f--k![]()

Re: Pipeline changes in march
I doubt the new sickness policy is any worse than most other similar employers, the later finishing times/seasonal working have been well documented and only you can decide if you are prepared to accept them or not, likewise with Sunday working, which if you don't mind working Sunday's is OK as it's just delivering parcels, with no letters to sort or delivery (not as a rule anyway!).emu72 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2023, 23:43i had a health setback but ive recovered.i left before all the striking and i know how much strife posties have gone through and the awful time theyve had but i generally enjoyed the job,the excercise, meeting customers and the pay wasn’t bad but concerned about how many changes are coming into force like later finish times, sunday working and cuts to sick leave.my mate says his office is so bad with so much being brought back, managers who dont care and full frames of mailclashcityrocker wrote: ↑04 Aug 2023, 19:12Why did you leave?emu72 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2023, 17:37Just a question (and please serious answers only please).i left the job a year ago but was looking at rejoining.i know im looking at a different contract from what ive had before but would coming back really be a bad move with all the changes.ive been offered full time and because its a job i know and the money is better than what im on(and of course we all need more money) thats why i was considering it.

Deliveries wise you have a start & finish time so it doesn't really matter how much mail is around as you can only deliver the same amount you delivered in the past.

No, what about the extra time that has been saved via SISO & the stopping of all this "going home early" business?TopperGas wrote: ↑05 Aug 2023, 17:58I doubt the new sickness policy is any worse than most other similar employers, the later finishing times/seasonal working have been well documented and only you can decide if you are prepared to accept them or not, likewise with Sunday working, which if you don't mind working Sunday's is OK as it's just delivering parcels, with no letters to sort or delivery (not as a rule anyway!).emu72 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2023, 23:43i had a health setback but ive recovered.i left before all the striking and i know how much strife posties have gone through and the awful time theyve had but i generally enjoyed the job,the excercise, meeting customers and the pay wasn’t bad but concerned about how many changes are coming into force like later finish times, sunday working and cuts to sick leave.my mate says his office is so bad with so much being brought back, managers who dont care and full frames of mailclashcityrocker wrote: ↑04 Aug 2023, 19:12Why did you leave?emu72 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2023, 17:37Just a question (and please serious answers only please).i left the job a year ago but was looking at rejoining.i know im looking at a different contract from what ive had before but would coming back really be a bad move with all the changes.ive been offered full time and because its a job i know and the money is better than what im on(and of course we all need more money) thats why i was considering it.

Surely more mail can be delivered with everyone working their full hours?

Re: Pipeline changes in march
That was never an issue in my DO was we've always worked to our hours. Although I doubt the OP is going to choose not to return to working for RM as he'll be expected to work the hours he's being paid to work!!

Re: Pipeline changes in march
For the record the removal of flights has impacts across the UK.
However clearly the Highlands which rely on the Inverness flights and indeed the South West which rely on the Exeter flights are both at the biggest risk.
However different areas are impacted in different ways , most of the Midlands and North West get the least movement in start times.
South London is one of the biggest impact due to its reliance on Stanstead Airport.
Both Royal Mail and the CWU have been working hard to ensure that the no more than 60 minutes can be achieved. This includes making sure mail centres actually carry out their work plan which will mean that 95% of mails can be on Wave 1.
Before Space jumps in this will be achieved by advancing all dispatch including the final. 80% of DSA is in mail centres before 18:00 and we are still having the final dispatch at 22:00 when we have less than 40% of the work load we had 20 years ago and this will reduce more when the Midlands hub ramps up.
All mail centre catchment working groups will be set up over the next 3 weeks with the intention to achieve the no more than 60 minutes later start with a default of 90 minutes.
We have modelled lots of units and we believe we can achieve this.
However anyone who believes that Royal Mail was going to keep using planes clearly was reading the room right.
The only way to reduce the impact was to reduce the impact of later starts. Voting no would have meant hundreds of units would have moved to the cheaper option 3 hours plus later.

What about offices in Northern Ireland as Royal Mail will have to continue with the planes over there

Re: Pipeline changes in march
Northern Ireland will still have flights so there start and finish times will not change as a result of the pipeline change.

Re: Pipeline changes in march
Northern Ireland Start Times do change up to 60 minutes come March like everyone else. They will still get flights from East Midlands but will they stop also, probably.
