Re: We deserve a vote
Yes, I think it's about time we are allowed a vote. Last night around 16:30 on LBC radio a CWU representative was on - in response to the 11% April Fool's joke from a manager at Gloucester Delivery Office. It seemed obvious to me, from what he was saying that the main sticking point for the CWU is the number of reps suspended (or stitched up in his opinion) by RM. He even stated that he couldn't believe that a rep was suspended for setting off a kids smart bomb on a picket line. Personally I think that was a stupid thing to do.
Yes, so it's fairly obvious to me that the reason we aren't getting anywhere is because the CWU's main interest is in their reps, not the workforce who they are supposed to be representing (and collecting subs from).
I would like the opportunity to vote on what has been offered, rather than waiting even more months without a pay rise.

Where have you read that? On sky it said a bonus of £500 or £1500 , whatever that means? A bonus usually implies you have to reach a target to earn it. This is why I'd like the CWU to be more transparent and detail what exactly is on the table, and let us vote for it.Cedar_Room wrote: ↑05 Apr 2023, 12:54£1,500 bribe?
Thought they were skint?

Talking for over 1 year is pathetic from all involved. Yes i do understand where we are but all the stuff is all ready in. What are we going on strike for now???? Sorry but I will not be losing more money for an already lost cause ….

Re: We deserve a vote
I think the CWU will be under huge pressure not only from the company but it’s members as well now the 2 offers have been made public.
The general consensus in our office is we’ve had enough of the talks, the revisions have all been pushed through, we’ve all quietly quit because of that and we now just want a few quid in our pockets to pay the bills.
The notion of a 9% backdated deal for 2022 is pie in the sky now. They’ve sat out the financial year and with reports of inflation due to fall by the end this of this year to 2.9% the offer of 6% they’d argue is a compromise.
If the full deal isn’t released by Royal Mail and put to the members I fear the CWU will find itself with considerably fewer members

It’s option B of RM’s offer. Included with the annual pay rises is a £1,500 lump sumrambo1 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2023, 13:37Where have you read that? Re: We deserve a vote
No deal, no vote.
Even at 10% inflation for two years & a reduced value of say 5% for next year the notion of a 15% pay cut in real terms is appalling.
Add new contracts & pay for new starters & the company is lost.
Why walk 10-15 miles per day on walks that you have no chance of completing with aggressive bullying Managers when you can work at Lidl’s for £1 more an hour.
Without a change of Board & CEO we will continue to go in the same direction, it will finish RM.

Inflation is expected to just under 3 per cent by the end of the year, according to the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).
In its reported released alongside the 2023 Spring Budget, the OBR said inflation was set to fall from 10.7 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2022, to 2.9 per cent by end of 2023.
It had previously predicted that the average inflation rate for 2023 would be 7.4 per cent, and 3.8 per cent in Q4 2023.
The OBR has also forecast that the UK will not now enter a technical recession this year.

Re: We deserve a vote
the union have let the members down big time, if its about new entrants, any other job new entrants get shafted on new terms and condtions why should royal mail be any different, we have all lost out on money and wages aint going up, get it to the members so we can decide our future, as for the uso, union constantly telling us its a bad thing ,job losses etc propangada, well my experience of a laidback attitude from managers towards mail these days is actually brilliant, don't need to worry about delivering every single letter, just work to your time, end of the day we are only here for a wage just do what the company wants u to do, take ur tracks so what ,cut off get paid, its actually better, union have to many people brainwashed to think for themselves, do u really want to save the uso and be harrased everyday by managers to get everysingle letter out??? i know i dont

I’m pretty sure most people aren’t grasping how inflation works
