Never going to happen. Certainly not how people want it to, anyway. The letters side could end up nationalised again, as things like the NHS currently still rely on paper. I've no doubt it'll be stripped back to bare minimums though. The USO will go (in its current form) along with much of the workforce.

You could spit of GLS and PF but apart from that any other splitting off is both physically and logistically impossible

And it would be very easy to move all the tracked parcels over to either of those companies, or set up an entirely separate company if they wanted to. Which, infact, is almost certainly where we're headed anyway. We've been told to expect another revision before the year is out, with another 10% of the walks being removed and further parcel duties added. That's on top of 20% that have just come out. There's no doubt in my mind all parcels will be taken off the duties, eventually. They're taking the profitable, growth side of the business and separating it from the dying letters side.

This whole thing is by the regulation of the USO the USO is is not just a service but a regulation of that service we have DSA ( Down Stream Access) providers ie the pick it up dump it on us at our cost. This whole thing was set up to compete with royal mail as we would have two or three postal people delivering every day at our door. Whistle did do some of this till they realised it is better to get us all to deliver it as it costs to much and even having kids doing the job could not make it pay. So till the regulation of the USO and it's remit and the fate of royal mail is doomed to failure by an elected but corrupt government led by liers and charlatans!

Could RM ever split RM into two separate companies, one being made up of RDCs, MCs and Logistics/Network and the other being made up of DOs? Would they have to keep all current contracts as they are or could they rip up all our contracts?

Be careful what you wish for is all I can say to that.

It's probably futile, yet the alternative is worse. IDS will be back year on year cutting everything and turning the screw.

We are being treated appallingly on a daily basis and all the powers that be know it. Provide me with one single incentive to work for Royal Mail as it stands.

Delivery is the expensive part of the entire operation. RM need to factor it in to the equation. Cuts have to made elsewhere.

Top heavy Management, personnel, all the unused , unnecessary roles that are nothing more than a PR exercise.

Cuts on delivery lead to failure, poor quality and the situation we have now. Time to do the job properly.

That's why they want rid of the mail the USO.
