This kind of thing actually helps RM. Ofcom challenge what is going on, RM point to massive losses thus demonstrating that the USO is not financially sustainable, USO gets reduced, RM slash workforce. There is no escaping the fact that what is being paid in wages is greater than what is being paid for in postage. Blame who you like, that is a fact.

In one of his replies on workplace I read this morning, Simon is saying this is a RMChat creation - hinting someone called Dave, a ex postie from Battersea who he claims is an editor on here ... He seems rattled by this posting!

You say it's fact but is it fact....KnowItAll wrote: ↑03 Nov 2022, 23:22This kind of thing actually helps RM. Have to see the figures. For a company to be going from making so much profit to losing so much there has to be some managerial incompetence involved.
How much is the figure manipulated, how much how we lost because of the dispute that wasn't needed if Royal Mail shown some compromise. How much is it down to the fact that people will be skint for the next couple of years. Could the figures be manipulated to seem allot worse than they are, cause they can. How much has been spent on manager VRs and new hubs and needless amount of agency workers at extortionate bonuses manager and picket line crosses bribes.
This business can still turn over a profit when run properly. Can't go downhill so monumentally in less than a year..... Yes, many parts of the country are losing money but that's the USOs unique service. Should be subsidised by money made in big cities and urban areas. Gotta blame senior management.

There's still money in letters there not loss making yet 60%parcels 40%mail from Simons own figures, they just wants to cut headcount 3-5 day uso as for important mail hospital appointments, bank cards, insurance docs,Council letters, voting letters,s**t loads of junk mail not to mention d2ds which is a huge money earner and thats just a quick list.KnowItAll wrote: ↑03 Nov 2022, 23:10Hospitals have mastered email. I mean, they send me reminders by post a few weeks in advance for no good reason, but let's not pretend we're risking lives here. Tell me a situation where a physical letter can NOT be replaced by online communication, and you might just save the whole letters industry.transporter03 wrote: ↑03 Nov 2022, 20:33So Mrs Smith has a urgent 1st class hospital letter and it doesn't
matter anymore ?. Unbelievable and to think I used to be proud to work for this company !. 38 years service here and how much longer is anyone 's guess.

Well, there's more to it than that. If you see those instructions in your unit, and you believe that what you are being asked to do is wrong and against the rules of the business, speak up.
It's in the national interest that you do.

To the public:
If you're planning to send 3 presents to your nephews this Christmas, don't put them in small individual parcels, pack them in one big parcel, we'll prioritise the delivery of that big parcel even though the 3 parcel method will cost you a lot more to send.
The 3 small parcels would be sitting in our office until we decide that they are worth delivering, along with the Christmas cards you sent a fortnight ago.

We have an obligation to deliver all mail 6 days a week.KnowItAll wrote: ↑03 Nov 2022, 23:22This kind of thing actually helps RM. If staff are being deliberately instructed not to do that as a matter of policy, it's not the same as failing mail out of necessity due to unforseen circumstances.

Hospitals may have mastered emails. However elderly people like my mother haven't. She does not even have an email address. she joins nearly half the population who do not regularly send or receive emails https://www.statista.com/statistics/506 ... age-group/
