The long time posties in my office all spout they are on some old time start times & then drop in "The extra mile" & "Look after the customers" & "Quality of service" they have all been here since school & know no better

Told to take out what we can till our time. Make sure tracks and sds cleared. Ironic that wtr which should have been utilised by the union is now being imposed by royal mail

Regardless of peoples thoughts on working to rule or working to their time (I think I did a thread a while ago), I don't understand why the company are trying to halve staff overtime when they are still using agency workers after strike days


Given the cost of living crisis its quite spiteful the company doing this as its probably costing them more money.

Got shown an ad for manpower the other day. 7.5 tonne drivers wanted. £643.00 days/£689 nights. Granted they're not guaranteed full weeks but equivalent pay is significantly higher than our own drivers.

I won't quote Trumanity, but the vast majority of things that might have been late by post would, in my experience, have been dealt with online. Physical items excluded, anything that's on paper is dealt with online. I have had nothing important delivered in letter format in years.

Not as much as it used to be I agree but lots of vulnerable and old people I deliver to still rely on us and look forward to seeing the posties, now thanks to the incompetence of our leaders we are failing these people, I have been moved off my regular walk this week and only delivered it today which had 4 days Mai! I couldn’t get it all done and many people were complaining about lack of post and important Mail not received, like someone said to me they take money for 1 st class but leave it in the frame at the delivery office surely this is fraud,

No overtime ban in our office, there is a ghosting ban, nobody is prepared to stay out, too used to ghosting, managers have been threatened that any ghosting and they will be held accountable. Work stacking up, people handing in notice on a regular basis now. Nobody cares. Last man leaving please turn the lights out and close the doors behind you.

Voting documents, guardian subscriptions, BMI journal, Radio Times subscriptions, (any magazine subscriptions), any academic supplementary journal subscriptions, supermarket rewards statements (nectar, tesco, boots), Pets at home reward scheme, annual pension statements, mobile phone contacts, community protection advisory notices, NHS letters (appointments, etc...), Details of direct debit instructions set up, notification of change of address from bank for students, any notification of interest rate changes from financial institutions, Cheques sent to home addresses, Royal mail notifications, CWU notifications, HMRC tax calculations, Annual mortgage statements, Solicitors correspondence, all postal advertising....all of these types of documents are posted, sometimes e:mailed as pdf. and also posted. I don't deny that the trend towards on-line is growing but I seriously doubt that you have had "nothing important delivered in letter format in years." Most of these examples are from the paper received through my door over the last month. I do everything on-line so what's the reality? Post still exists and can be very often considerable.

Yep .. not paying us to do the extra that lets face it these s**t revisions caused. Bringing agency muppets in who don't know the walk and bring everything back as no access even though these are terraced streets. It's designed to starve us. f**k em.

and i still get a lot of cards, and occasional postcards in the delivery mail...and they still need delivering.

Overtime in our office from this week is you will get paid the hours you work. So if you do half a walk you won’t get paid the usual 3 hours , only if it takes you 3 hours and manager come in the following morning having checked what time you scanned out. Is that the case everywhere ?

I don't say things lightly. If I have had anything important posted I've also seen it online. So the company that mailed it wasted money because they'd already emailed it. Sure, I get magazines but their content is usually online before they hit the mat. Letters are largely irrelevant. Let's not talk about birthday cards etc which cost us more to process than we get for delivery. We need profitable work OR we need to make what we receive profitable.
