Re: 9 months redundancy
What would you consider "A Case by Case basis"? If the COM likes you or not?
I would suggest that it would have to be done by Seniority as otherwise there's no real guidelines? While we're all fantasising: I'd go tomorrow IF they offered me 3 years Redundancy, a £10K Golden Handshake and £20k of FREE shares .......... but they're hardly likely to are they?

Re: 9 months redundancy
Don't understand why you would want to pay off someone with loads of seniority when they are close to retiring anyway! From a business point of view you would want rid of young full timers on the original t&C's surely?

Re: 9 months redundancy
Seems people are confused....or maybe it's just me.
Does the company have its own policy on compulsory redundancies?...
but they have chosen to reduce it to 9 months pay?...
but what is this from citizens advice....
'For each full year you've worked for your employer, you get: up to age 22 - half a week's pay. age 22 to 40 - 1 week's pay. age 41 and older - 1.5 weeks' pay.'.
What am I missing? is it max equivalent to 9 months pay?

Re: 9 months redundancy
Yes up until recently the company provided enhanced redundancy terms but they have been reduced.

I think the confusion here is Compulsory Vs Voluntarynorris9 wrote: ↑03 Nov 2022, 06:34Seems people are confused....or maybe it's just me.

Re: 9 months redundancy
Im senior and want it ,but im afraid current discrimination laws would be all over this,my thought would be all float duties would go first, you have to make the job redundant not the person and then vr would be offered to all ages so a float who didn't want to go could have the chance to move into the one of the vr jobs. By law they can't take voluntary and then fill their jobs again, that job must not be filled for 6 months after the redundancy. So technically if there were 10 people doing the same job and 2 were made redundant that work would have to be done by the remaining 8 for 6 months before rehire agency or otherwise. Redundancy is a mind field and i'm surprised the union or the younger one's haven't challenged this in the past.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Whether you think it's woke or not we live in totally different times now. There are laws covering all this. RM will use these laws and not only change the amount you get but all the criteria too. There will be a budget, office by office quotas, and various other things taken into account. As the dispute gets more bitter I think RM will only offer the basic minimum as per the gov.uk website , the max being about £16k.

Re: 9 months redundancy
Case by case is office by office quotas, within a given budget and other criteria like sick leave. I think R M will not only change the amount you get to the statutory minimum but all the criteria too. Their lawyers will be all over this to make sure it is all legal.Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑02 Nov 2022, 20:52

Re: 9 months redundancy
So what parameters do you envisage this 'case by case' scenario? and how would that not be descrimanation?timbo1234 wrote: ↑02 Nov 2022, 19:46I bet it won't. RM will not pay millions to 10000 people with 30 or 40 years service. They will have a budget. Also it may not be allowed under discrimination laws. I think it will be on an individual case by casezipmeister wrote: ↑02 Nov 2022, 17:49No it will be done on seniority.Celtic warrior wrote: ↑01 Nov 2022, 21:07AND ...... not voluntary but compulsory so they can get rid of who they want to bring in new staff at lower wages.

Re: 9 months redundancy
Ah but nobody has a specific job in delivery really. Yes some have duties but they can be moved as and when , we all know this happens. So I would think it will be x number of hrs needs to go from x office so we need to reduce head count by that amount. I think they said 'roles' and our role is a delivery post person ,whatever duty you may or not be on.guardianangel wrote: ↑03 Nov 2022, 08:46Im senior and want it ,but im afraid current discrimination laws would be all over this,my thought would be all float duties would go first, you have to make the job redundant not the person and then vr would be offered to all ages so a float who didn't want to go could have the chance to move into the one of the vr jobs. Re: 9 months redundancy
Usually;
Voluntary redundancy starts at the top works it’s way down
Compulsory redundancy starts at the bottom works it’s way up

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: 9 months redundancy
Anyway it's all up to whatever RM say. What is evident from this site ,is that they will have no problems getting the numbers, there will be no compulsory redundancies as far as i can see.rambo1 wrote: ↑03 Nov 2022, 10:11Ah but nobody has a specific job in delivery really.
