I'd settle for 1% and 30 hours off the working week.

Did you see that the Bank of England spokesman on the news saying "employees should not ask for too high a pay rise", his view that with inflation approaching 7.25% it may trigger a spiral of further increases?

Royal Mail can always put their parcel prices up an extra 7% to help fund a proper pay rise for us

If everything else is going up then why not?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

RM payrise tends to be....

First 1% - standard
Next 2.5,% - 1 hour off week
Anything else- payback

Think we need to avoid Sunday becoming regular working day and also avoid monthly pay.

Think his point was, if we enter a wage increase spiral then inflation might get out of control and we'd all be worse off in real terms than we already are.

So we should accept a pay cut in real terms then, funny how the people who come out with these statements are always millionaires.

Backlash after Bank boss says don't ask for big pay rise

Unions have reacted with fury after the Bank of England boss urged workers not to ask for big pay rises, to help stop prices rising out of control.

Mr Bailey was paid £575,538 including pension, in the year from 1 March 2020, more than 18 times higher the median annual pay of £31,285 for full-time employees.

He said that while it would be "painful" for workers to accept that prices would rise faster than their wages, he added that some "moderation of wage rises" was needed to prevent the rise in the cost of living becoming entrenched.

"I'm not saying don't give yourself a pay rise. This is about the size of it [any rise]... we do need to see restraint," he added.

Read more crap from him and the treasury at the link.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

And avoid a renewed attack on sick pay and further 'refinements' to our pension plans.

I must confess that monthly pay isn't a hill I'd die on, or even contest too much. I fear Sunday working as part of standard rotations isn't far off one way or another (already nearly 20% of our office have Sunday working written into their contracts).

The Union have no excuses this time...but i am sure they will make a few,as will RM pleading poverty etc etc as usual

If they had any balls they would simply say - x amount pay increase no dilution of any terms whatsoever

But they are just as corrupt as the rest of them

And before anybody comes with the...but you have to compromise etc etc - no not this time we have given up enough, either the CWU fights for us or they can f*ck off
