The free movement of labour is subordinate to the free movement of capital.

The free movement of Capital means it becomes impossible to nail Capital down in your community hence why the quintessential English / British Range Rover f****d off to where labour is more compliant.

Immigration is a 2 way story and much of the movement in the EU came on the back of the bailouts facilitated within the EU after the financial crash.

These bailouts stripped the likes of Ireland , Southern Europe and the Baltics of their assets and forced half their young to leave their own country and transferred state assets from democratic to private control making it nearly impossible for any single elected government to reverse.

Hollande a "socialist " French president deployed the army on the streets of France to force through labour reforms due to having to meet German productivity targets because they share the same currency.

Not that your average German is feeling well off as Merkel like her counterparts in the UK has suppressed wages during her tenure and in general with one or two exceptions wages have fallen against GDP for the last 40 years in the West.

I'm not going to dissect every point you made. Other than to say, I agree that it's globalism, that's driven large scale immigration.

I just find it amusing that people thought that Brexit would mean less immigration. It's disconcerting that people aim that anger at the immigrants, who are just trying to make a life for themselves like the rest of us, and not the policy makers.

It's a paradox that most people don't seem to get, the right-wing parties that may seem on the face of it "socially conservative", tend to be the ones most "liberal" when it comes to the free movement of capital, and thus labour. The economics and the conservative principles don't align.

Its not the immigrants but the politicians that people are concerned about for they are in charge of brexit but to be honest the tories were never fully brexitiers anyway.

I wonder if Royal Mail or IDS as they call themselves now could be one of those businesses wanting to allow more workers in?? Just imagine if Britain had an abundance of cheap labour they could just throw onto the streets to work as posties. I'm not saying thats down to immigration. Just the fact that there must an abundance of cheaper labour already?

I'm going to be as diplomatic as I can about this. But, anecdotally speaking considering the agency people we've "struggled" to recruit, and how incompetent they are, we seem to be at a point where "scraping the barrel" comes to mind.

I've discussed this a lot, I've never worked for a company that treats it's core workforce with such utter contempt. The people they are trying to force out the business to replace with "cheaper" workers, are the only bloody thing in Royal Mail that is actually efficient!!!!
