1. Our LAT office would not be able to accommodate all parcels it would receive for 14 different postcodes.
2. LATs are currently being delivered to individual offices at 1pm approx daily and then rolled over to next day in VAST majority of offices, so in our area LATS are not delivered.
Also what is a space format 3 & 4 parcel when its at home?
Space was referring to the poster SpacePhoenix.
Format 3 and 4 parcels I guess is anything over shoe box size.
With the new dawn of working from home/hybrid working the whole employment landscape is changing.
People with the ability to WFH have been given a huge virtual pay rise these last 2 years with savings they are making, and many of these people are far better insulated from the huge cost of living expenses we all are seeing.
I know it's not as simple as it sounds, but something needs done to bridge the earnings gap between traditional office staff who are now WFH vs those of us who are going to be 'left behind' in the old way of working.
What's the point in ordering items online to be delivered to you as you WFH if there is no-one to deliver them as the job becomes so poorly paid.....

This is a good point. I think we could always say give these people a massive pay rise. Primarily to reflect soaring living costs. To balance the books companies including us could increase the prices of services and products. At the same we could say a lot of people working from home can afford increased prices as they are saving quite a fortune by working from home etc. Problem is unfortunately even bigger than it seems. They save on commuting costs but they spend quite a sum on utilities. In my opinion it is still far cheaper than chucking out thousands of season train tickets or £50 a week on petrol.
Government on the other hand seems to fail to notice a widening gap between the poor and rich. Moreover they seem to create extra divisions between those enjoying wfh and those who have to still commute to work. Then you have those unemployed claiming benefits and those who work. At the same time living standards for all these groups are steadily lowering while the rich backed by powerful politicians, driven by the greed are asset stripping companies becoming even richer and at the same time contributing to worse working conditions and lower pay for us working people.
We are doomed. Even after financial crash in 2008 living standards were way better in my opinion.
I believe that failure to recognise this by the CWU and unwillingness of Royal Mail to propose anything decent without totally stripping us from the benefits we enjoy will almost certainly contribute to further deterioration of staff morale and willingness to go the extra mile when business is desperate.

I can see WFH people losing their jobs eventually. If they can do the work remotely like that then their work could be done cheaper by someone else working from home in another country
Space format 3 and 4 parcels will no longer be done in mail centres and instead will be done by parcel hub automation.
There's just large and small parcels in MCs and probably well over 75% now you get in both sleeves and yorks from other offices Tracked and non-Tracked, large and small mixed in together. The hubs will have to be able to manage all of that
Royal Mail strategy is to have these sent to circa 300 large delivery offices and then deliver to all of us postcodes from the one large office. They believe this strategy will make the LAT product more viable. These will not be processed by mail centres and will only be cross docked.
With the lorry/van space that it'll require either it arrives in time to make the final dispatches or it'll fail, simple as. Most DOs won't have any 7.5 ton lorries
The CWU strategy is to ensure that the majority of these format 3&4 parcels remain on the core delivery to prevent wholesale later starts. The CWU believe work can be divided manually in the large offices in a bulk ring and then dispatched to the right full delivery office.
Just how many large DOs are going to have the room or the staff to do that?
Once again RM and the CWU can dream on if they think it's viable
Yes as the automation in Warrington can only sort to circa 360 selections.
There are 1286 Delivery Offices ( some in the same building )
So let me get this straight. The automated parcel hubs, can only sort to around 360 selections, as a limitation of the equipment installed?
Because, previously the poorly thought through plan was that:
Royal Mail’s previous policy was that the circa 300 delivery offices would delivery the format 3&4 parcels.
They've now realised that literally the best thing about Royal Mail's infrastructure, is that we have local Delivery offices everywhere, which should be used to deliver those parcels. But the automated hubs, can't actually "automatically" sort the parcels to those offices, so they have to be manually sorted at the previously designated LAT offices.
That's genuinely, one of the stupidest things I've heard in a while. We really do tie ourselves up in knots.
IF any resorting us going to be needed it should be done at the Inward M C not the LAT Hub, the Inward M C will already have the Transport Links to the DO , sorting at the LAT Hub will req the introduction of a Local distribution network which already exists at the M C
IF any resorting us going to be needed it should be done at the Inward M C not the LAT Hub, the Inward M C will already have the Transport Links to the DO , sorting at the LAT Hub will req the introduction of a Local distribution network which already exists at the M C
For that to happen it'd need to arrive at the MC with enough time to allow for the sorting and then to make the final dispatches. We don't have a wave 3, that got axed what must be a couple of years ago now

It would seem RM are planing to have the Items Delivered ftom the LAT Offices
CWU seem to want the items Delivered from The Indervidual DO,s
Have you any idea on what time the items for your Area are due to Arrive from Warrington
