Royal Mail expect a fall in traffic volumes in the low season. Whilst every office is different, ours have started to recruit some of the staff that worked over Xmas on permanent contracts so we will have more staff to complete the workload. They have also ceased 250 planned tabletop revisions in delivery offices and identified 24 units for national support.

Never knew you were an accountant ,i believe a lot of people in royal mail had their hands in the till so to speak and no one will convince me differently.
Yes, unfortunately when most CEOs resign to avoid being sacked they often walk away with big pay offs. There was a lot corruption when Royal Mail was privatised. Vince Cable significantly undervalued Royal Mail costing the taxpayer £750 million the day it was privatised. Its outrageous that Vince Cable allowed Royal Mail shares to be bought exclusively by city investors at 'mates rates' and were then able to sell most of their shares within weeks of the company being floated on the stock market. They made an absolute f**ing killing.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

That still doesn't answer my question, how can every office working less hours improve QoS, some of offices may have sufficient staff but there seems numerous who are understaffed.postslippete wrote: ↑15 Jan 2024, 22:17

Re: re: Select Committee, Part 3??
improving quality of service just feels like a PR line, how can it be anything else if you have even less time to do an overstretched delivery

Can't speak for other offices, but like I said, ours have actually recruited more permanent staff and put duties back in. We still have agency workers as well.
Our business model seems to be predominantly run on overtime and not everyone wants it so we still seem to be failing the mail
So your answer relies on the business putting new duties back in and recruiting permanent staff. One really does compliment the other imho because a lot of our staff either went on sick or left when they made our walks too big. Managers who are forced to keep costs down whilst also trying to show that QoS has improved are more than likely cooking the books.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

The select commitee has no power to enforce anything. They can only make recommendations to various bodies (ofcom).
On my opinion Thompson lied under oath on his second appearance by repeating the false claims he made during his first. In effect commiting perjury and contempt of parliament and there has been no consequences.

The select committee is like the Christmas panto. We all boo and hiss at the villain but at the end of the show he smiles and takes a bow.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Oh No It isn't.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I am aware he has left the business. My gripe is that there has been no legal consequences for him.

Our office has cancelled the table top revision due in March, it will now be a full revision based on.the geo route information etc that they used over 2 years ago which brought the office to a grinding haltpostslippete wrote: ↑15 Jan 2024, 22:17
