I think the CWU have excelled in there job. The criticisms exist duely to how advanced and far a ruthless employer has acted with clearly the best legal advisers the land has to offer.

Every twist and turn has been investigated, every nook and advantage taken. Royal Mail has finally found a way to bring in change and discard the Union. Truly in hindsight this has all been about union busting.

And it's worked. No wonder in the select committee, Mr Thompson refused to say who the advisers are. They are brutal.

Having a super legal team will help. The union tripping up over their own shoelaces helped RM further.
It was clear, even mentioned in this forum, that ST is only the hatchet man. Breaking everything up. Yet the CWU concentrated only on him. The parliamentary circus event was hailed as a victory but it was a hollow one.

ST or not, the powers that be will demand the same thing from the next CEO.

In fairness to the union they were always on a hiding for nothing. But their dads army approach has angered a lot of its own members now and RM haven’t budged.

Well said. If we cave in now RM will have free rein to change whatever they want. The CWU have tried to negotiate in good faith with an employer who has the morals of a sewer rat. I think I'm being unfair to the sewer rat!

Well we were told last week that if progress wasn’t forthcoming by Tuesday(yesterday) then notice would be served. Yet another Union deadline not carried through. The CWU are absolutely all over the place and have no idea what to do next. Like a deer in the headlights, a deer that will scream SOLIDARITY while being flattened by a RM artic. At least Dave will get his mega pension when this is all done. Take some comfort in that comrades.

They probably never expected Royal Mail to be so ruthless. RM don’t want to negotiate and the union are powerless to stop it.
They can pretend it’s members going on strike is making a difference but the company will be moulded into new model. With or without the union.

It looks very much like the updates today are messages to the board at todays ‘board meeting’ we will likely hear from the PEC about action after they gauge how the company plan to act/treat us in the coming day’s negotiations.

The problem (I assume) is that the narrative RM are pushing is "union resistant to change, losing money, lose more money when strikes, administration." If we go on strike it kind of gives RM carte blanche to torch the company down whilst shouting "see?! We warned you this would happen and it's all your fault!"

When is this deadline for an agreement?

the things they still haven't resolved yet look like they would take another 6 months to resolve based on the lack of progress throughout the talks.
