I wonder how the talks are going? Nobody saying much - Thompson did let slip on workplace yesterday he is still at ACAS, but other than that ... He didn't even react to CWU serving legal notice of next strikes - strange for him ... Grant McPherson, however, has blamed today's disastrous quality of service results on the industrial action!

I can imagine negotiations are tough and going slowly . I fully expect talks to end without an agreement . I think the gap between the union and management is too wide . I’m preparing myself for more industrial action

I am told that the CEO was at new Midland parcel hub on Monday and PRDC Wednesday, also he is still banging the “ it’s our company to run” s**t at said hub in an address to managers. Personally I think he is prepared to tough it out and after Christmas impose his plans without agreement. I hope to god i’m wrong though.

The thing I don’t get… assuming he could just bring the changes he wants anyway, why hasn’t he just done that?

There must be some reason why he’s still entertaining the idea of getting an agreement?

No idea But Thompson has just said in a reply on workplace they are all meeting on Saturday

How about wants to complete the Sale of GLS first and loss of revenue justification to go nuclear?

In my opinion he is simply playing for time stringing along the CWU.

the cynic in me says the talks will finish with a nearly completed deal
which RM will pressure cwu to put to a vote on acceptance or rejection to in fact stop the 24/25 strike days
as they did before only we didnt get the vote
we will be back negotiating and the same stunt will be used again
i really hope im wrong

Everything is on the line for both parties here, it's difficult to see how the business could regain the trust of its major customers if the whole of Christmas is disrupted by industrial action. It would set their plans to build a parcel business back years, possibly so far back that they would never recover.

It's also difficult to see a feasible way out for the union if these talks fail.

Both parties know that, the loose cannon is Mr Thompson
It has become very personal and unprofessional with him. He has to be seen to "win" even if he destroys the company in the process.

The Personal Attacks on Simon Thompson through social media campaigns has also made it very personal from the CWU.

Both parties in this dispute are equally to blame when it degrades into a Willy Waving campaign who has the bigger Gonads rather than resolving the real issues.

No they're not.
1. Only one party has had the means to resolve this dispute from day one.
2. Simon Thompson has been gaslighting his own staff from the start. They are not "willy waving".
3.Every escalation in this dispute has come from the employer.

Even when these intensive talks were announced and both sides agreed on silence Simon could not help himself.

You can try to muddy the waters all you want but nobody, not even many of Simon's own managers believe that "both sides are equally to blame".

we had an office meeting today , the com reckons a deal will be announced on 15th Nov. Hes already started telling us about late starts late finishes and the best one yet , collections of parcels from the public will still be free BUT could be a max of 50 yes 50 parcels per house.That includes delivery of labels so how the fook do we get time to do this ? (this is why they want the promise to clear) if that comes in i am off !
