Re: Bypassing the union
The union shouldn't have pussyfooted around.
It should have been a week out at the very beginning. This would have raised the media profile of the dispute hugely and maybe put some leverage on the top bosses to change.
I don't know whether the union have a lack of faith in the members to go out all week, or whether they are trying to win the dispute with as little action as possible, but really the company have walked them down the garden path so far.

Re: Bypassing the union
When your football team is 4-0 down (because that’s what it feels like), the last thing you’d expect/want to see is your players time wasting, kicking it back to the goalkeeper and trying to keep the ball in the corner.
The union can no longer play it safe with random strike days. Kick back, and kick back now. Tear up our own agreements (average holiday pay), let’s see how ST likes 60000 new cases for unpaid holiday through ACAS. Tell staff not to drive any van that hint hint they don’t think is roadworthy (bumpers secured with tape, mirrors hanging off, doors that don’t open). Then move onto more strike action, work to rule (yes I know it affects us financially, some more than others but we are getting to the desperate stage regardless).
I doubt he really said this but to quote Churchill (supposedly), you can’t reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth.
Dave Ward, stop fannying about.

The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

The posters on this site are split on the issue of striking for a full week, norm wrote: ↑03 Nov 2022, 23:21The union shouldn't have pussyfooted around.

Re: Bypassing the union
Would go further back than that and say if all Agreements are off the table then can we have our Saturday Allowances back NDA rather than the s**t Shift Allowances the way things are going everything will be brought in by Executive Action by January and once it's in it's in unlike Liz Truss there is no U Turning by Royal MailHTPostman wrote: ↑04 Nov 2022, 06:16When your football team is 4-0 down (because that’s what it feels like), the last thing you’d expect/want to see is your players time wasting, kicking it back to the goalkeeper and trying to keep the ball in the corner.
