9 months redundancy

I'd sign up for statuatory redundancy right now if they offered it. I am job hunting anyway so just a matter of time before I go for free, would rather get a few quid.

Same here, at least give you a little breathing space and a little bit to even train to do something in the meantime.

When the managers had there redundancy payments a few months ago they had 2 years pay we have to argue for the same they are finding millions of pounds to build there super hubs

What you think of this 9 months redundancy? was 2 years (24 months) poor show!, don't think anyone will go for that, minumum a years wage, ideally 18 months

i would take 1 years pay to skip out the door , the CWU should add it to the questions to accept there s**t deal , Would you accept redundancy ? and show thompson how many staff want out the f***ing place and the amount of staff he would be left with to run the job

I'd consider taking the right redundancy pay off, but if it's done on seniority I probably have no chance. Also, our mail centre is 25-30% understaffed as it is, so I doubt anyone will be getting offered a redundancy package at our place unless Royal Mail increase the numbers of staff they want rid of.

no it said part timers can apply for redundancy too so its not all full timers that get the chance, listen they have the money, the very least you would expect is 12 months redundancy, but if they wont pay 24 months, somewhere in between people would go, don't be fooled by 9 months thats no even a year

Is there a certain amount of years that you will have had to work for Royal Mail to qualify for this redundancy pay?

AND ...... not voluntary but compulsory so they can get rid of who they want to bring in new staff at lower wages.

I remember years ago i was only in the job a year! they were sending letters out back then for so many redundancies and it gave u a table how much ud roughly get from 1 years service all the way up

this is the problem im nearly 30 years which yay redundency but EVERYBODY wants it at mines grrrr...

I suspect there's lots who say they want it, but change their mind when they do the maths and think about it properly. Especially if the max pay out is only going to be 9 months pay.

Personally, I've had a long term plan to leave RM next year anyway, so will be glad of a few £'s and will see it as a nice little bonus. Hopefully it'll come my way.

I bet it won't. RM will not pay millions to 10000 people with 30 or 40 years service. They will have a budget. Also it may not be allowed under discrimination laws. I think it will be on an individual case by case

I was made redundant 3 times before I became a Postie ( wanted a stress-free job, HAH! ). Only once was I entitled to redundancy. Anyway I believe the stipulation was/is that you get it tax free but if you go back to the company within 3, maybe its 4, years you have to pay tax on the original payout amount. Similar to a lottery win and your next of kin having to pay tax on the original amount won if you die within 4 years of the win.
