It's to do with a letter sent out by Angela Noon Chief Financial Officer (sorry haven't got a link) concerning how much money they're losing.

There's a list of procedures to be followed by Managers to help cut down on the ammount of money they're hemorraging. As next week has several days of rolling strikes, through different functions, RM think it's going to be "Very Quiet" on the mail front. Managers Have been told NOT to allow any pressure OT on the build up to the strikes. The letter says,"Given our biggesst cost is overtime, a 50% reduction target will be introduced in Delivery and Processing to the end of the fiscal year"

Lets see how long that lasts Obviously these people have no idea how this Business works in "The Real World"

I’ll give it until Thursday and then it will be overtime for all again with no limits. The clueless suits at the top have tried overtime bans plenty of times over the years and it never lasts more than 3 days. This company runs on goodwill and overtime so it won’t last, unless their plan is to let the whole network fail and have parcels/mail sitting outside of buildings in bad weather. Come to think of it I wouldn’t put anything past them at this point.

I think that's honestly the plan at this point - as much as we like to think those at the top are idiots, even they've got to understand that the amount of OT that's given out isn't given out for fun, it's given because the company can't deliver otherwise.

I've dismissed it as a conspiracy theory before but I honestly think the plan is to fail the USO so massively that the Government has no choice but to legislate it down; and images of DOs literally full to the rafters of parcels and letters would be all the propaganda they need.

The ban lasted all of 12 hours in our office although pt staff still starting late and coming into unprepped duties then only going out with a few loops. Now with no strikes for a couple of weeks RM will probably roll back on the ban or we’ll all be tripping up over mail and packet bags.

You're right K now we've had those two strike days cancelled it's "Business as Usual"

Our PTers don't do so badly for OT, as they're often put on FT Duties (doing the Full Prep). A lot of them are too BIG, so they're also booking Pressure OT as well.
