So I am expecting to get slated for this but here goes.

Some honesty is required here.
Attendance procedure: this currently favours the ones who 'play the system' and works against the people who are unfortunate enough to be ill. ( I know some people will argue all sick is genuine but come on)

Productivity: mail centres are like holiday camps, no standards what so ever, yet the changes seem to be aimed at delivery staff ( worst paid hardest worked) imo.

Opportunity available: the business wants Sunday as a normal working day. Counter with all delivery staff go Monday to Friday and create NEW weekend jobs.

Historic allowances come up every time: as long as a pay rise sees nobody worse off go for it. (I get ex phg)

Scan in scan out , what's the problem?

There has to get change, the real victory is getting the best our of that change.
I also get ex phg . The thing about that allowance isn't about the money exactly , it's the fact that it's pensionable . I'm coming up to 61 and so any loss of pensionable pay would be a blow.

Yes I know its pensionable. My point was that if your basic pensionable pay increased more then the allowance its less of a blow.
You will already be receiving your final salary pension anyway?

Your average DO postie would suffer a Myocardial, then why is the fact that NO person working in a mail centre wants any kind of transfer to a DO, I rest my case .
and also why there's never any vacancies in the mail centre closest to me

When anyone leaves the business for any reason in MCs they get replaced by casuals/agency

I've done both including nights in both mailcentres and DOs.
There's no comparison physically, delivery is much harder work and pretty much destroys the body over time, it's also more stressful as you have lots of unknowns to deal with and you have that customer facing aspect to it.

Processing is just mind numbingly dull and I couldn't do it long term for that reason alone, I probably would be in line for a heart attack though as the last time I worked in an MC I put on a stone in 3 months.

Although I'd rather just take a 8% pay rise no strings.....that's not realistic....

I'd happily have sunday working, a Monday to Friday postal service with weekend parcel deliveries.

I am not keen on later starts though.

But even the Sunday working and cuts to staff numbers if going to a 5 day letter service.....is probably wishful thinking....

Royal Mail want us all on minimum wage, gig economy, with owner drivers, based on the words coming from the Union.

I have my plan to get out of this company before that happens.
