Re: Are there any talks scheduled?
Royal Mail are probably hoping that half of their profits they made last year that they gave to shareholders will hopefully buy them a bit of time whilst they try and crush the union and force through some radical changes
£400 million is quite a huge sum to just award shareholders imho

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

In fact I'll go a little further, the TUC had better get off its backside and start organising a general strike because its not just our union that is under threat, in the latest tory party leadership race both candidates are playing on the we're gonna destroy the unions bit to come across as the most thatcherite, Maggie saw off the miners now I'm gonna do the same to us, raliways , P&O, any others that dare to demand a decent pay or even to just simply keep what they have, and if the TUC doesn't stop being a useless talking shop it'll find itself shown to be utterly pointless, we need them to show their teeth, begin the process of a general strike, this is the moment of truth for ALL trade unions, stand up and be counted or fall by the wayside, now is the time to show what the word union really stands for UNITED, TOGETHER,

I'm starting to think most company's in disputes at the minute are biding their time for Liz Truss to come into power.
She could force through some more draconian anti trade union laws quickly with their massive majority in parliament.
God knows what that will look like but it won't be good....
I hope I'm wrong

Sadly I think you're right but hopefully the people of this country will have had enough of this bunch corrupt incompetent parasites and will boot them out in the next election, question is will starmer do anything to repeal the anti trade union laws if Labour do come to power, from.what I've seen probably not, this why I say the TUC needs to start earning its keep

Re: Are there any talks scheduled?
More action is preferable to no action but really this needs to be more then just what our union is doing, I think the whole trade union movement is under threat, unless its a general strike mobilised by the TUC and in the open and the reason stated by the TUC at every opportunity, it mustn't be a general strike by stealth, it must be in the full glare of the public, so the erosion all works rights and conditions are seen to be the just cause behind the drastic action, no political nonsense pure and simple working people have had enough of, earning their companies all their profits only to see their hard work rewarded by less pay in real terms less rights less allowances, less dignity while shareholders and top bosses Leech away their profits, shareholders who care nothing for British workers probably don't live here don't pay taxes here, we need a concerted effort from all trade unions and that will only happen with a general strike

Cod, lets invite them to get involved with joined up thinking across all Unions, or will this already be "wheels in motion" ?

I read a while back on the chat section of the lse website that the share price is being driven down so low so kretinsky will attempt a full takeover and sell off the gls parf of the business

Re: Are there any talks scheduled?
Absolutely this needs to happen this week. Royal Mail are already starting to implement changes via executive action so there is no time to waste. Give them another 4 strike dates running immediately after the 4 that have already been announced.worktotime wrote: ↑21 Aug 2022, 15:10i think Terry should serve notice to them for more strike dates for the ballot on change, that should get them thinking .

She's favouring the energy companies, she's favouring the fat cats in every business. The general public are being shafted here there and everywhere, with huge bills and small pay rises.
This winter is going to be rough for a lot of people. 2023 will be rough too. Truss will be hated from day 1.

Are we going to have separate strike days for terms and conditions?

Re: Are there any talks scheduled?
People keep talking about calling a general strike. I'm pretty sure that this is another of the rules the Tories brought in. A general strike is illegal. It needs to be done stealthily. Unions can call strikes at the same time as each other but a general strike cannot be called.
