^ Just had a look at UPS jobs after previous poster mentioned them and yes they do pay a fair wage and you aren't going to be walking as far. We walk ridiculous miles as we are delivering post to most homes on each street of our delivery. It is more exhausting delivering post & parcels than just delivering parcels.

Seems UPS drivers have a fairer deal on the face of it.

Signs just gone up on a roundabout near me offering £25K for product assistants in a diary factory, it seems they must be desperate for workers as they've never put up signs in the past. That salary does seem the benchmark for f/t unskilled manual workers.

What full time worker is really going to work for £8 an hour delivering mail/parcels, when they can get far more just working in a supermarket etc?

With diaries they’ll always be looking to the future.

DPD are on more than us and that is a fact. I've been told for years we are the best paid and I've argued until I'm blue in the face. Maybe now people have realised. My neighbour has shown me his wage slip and it is more than us. Also the ot rate goes up unlike ours that goes down. I think some people at the top need a reality check

They are correct though. We ARE the best paid in the industry.

Because we are the ONLY ones who are in the letters and parcels combined industry.

They just never mention that part when talking about the competition....
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

We are not the best paid parcel delivery company if that’s what you think I know a yodel driver who earns more than we do yes he works more hours but he certainly doesn’t have to deliver letters like we do also other companies like UPS and Amazon drivers are earning more than we do they probably do a few more hours but it’s nowhere near as Nackery yes it’s hard work and you’re under a bit of pressure but they don’t deliver six 700 calls a day like we do Thompson is talking out of his backside before you know it they’ll be a mass exodus in this company were going to the dogs

If Royal Mail will force through the changed they are hell bent on implementing. If we will not receive more appropriate pay rise than 2%. I think large percentage of people will leave, especially those younger ones with less seniority as older staff with many years under the belt, those nearing retirement will stay for the pension. The industry, parcel delivery firms will gladly absorb these people. They will get class A workers, with in depth knowledge of the delivery, many years of experience, genuine hard working people with good customer service skills. If we are to work for a competitor most of us would be ready from day1. Imagine you are covering a familiar area on top so you are laughing.
