The biggest disruption will actually come from the Network Railway staff. If we're not delivering their mail then they won't even realise they've got hospital appointments to attend! Although a strike could be a crafty move by Simon to make even more organisations turn to email etc and then never return to sending letters once any dispute is over.yellowbelly wrote: ↑11 Jun 2022, 14:45RMT grabbing all the headlines at the moment - people not being able to get to work/school/hospital appointments tendsguardianangel wrote: ↑10 Jun 2022, 20:12I hope when they do announce it it will be all over bbc, itv, sky, channel 4,5 , make it a massive announcement not like years gone by a 5 second clip and you miss it. They cocked up the last one,I’ll give you that. The previous two though? What happened?exetererica wrote: ↑11 Jun 2022, 18:45Cedar_Room wrote: ↑10 Jun 2022, 06:04The lovely Conservative party have made it very, very tricky to organise & execute a successful strike ballot. Basically there is a strict protocol the CWU have to follow.
Unfortunately,it is not a case of just saying - we don’t agree with you & firing out the papers.
The Tories do not want the working class to have a voice!!
Our union royally f*cked up our last 3 ballots.
It's actually easy to play by the rules.
Nobody else can be blamed
I genuinely cannot remember
“Shorts,in this weather?!”
“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”
“What’s she been ordering now?”

Re: Why are we still waiting for a ballot?
From what I recall of the last three ballots, after the first of these, 2017 I think, there was a majority for industrial action but the union announced dates for one day strikes before a compulsory arbitration period, so a judge decided that action had to be paused, in the meantime there was a change of management and a deal was done.Cedar_Room wrote: ↑12 Jun 2022, 17:27They cocked up the last one,I’ll give you that. Two years later in the autumn of 2019 there was another ballot but the union buggered it up by allowing people to fill in their voting forms at work and take pictures of themselves doing it. It's meant to be a secret ballot so that went to court and the ballot was ordered to be re-run properly, by that time Christmas had gone and the appetite for strikes was lost.
When a new ballot was finally held the majority in favour of industrial action was reduced and by then the pandemic was taking hold and it all went by the by.
