Not just covid , any contagious bug!TopperGas wrote: ↑14 Apr 2023, 17:26It'll be interesting to see if the new policy is brought in whether it does reduce sickness absence, or just motivates people to have now a full week off in future rather than take just 1 or 2 days off with a cold or sickness bug etc.
I just hope nobody gets COVID and decides that they don't want to lose up to 3 days pay so carries on working and then passes on to other posties in the DO.
I can't think of any reputable businesses i.e. not Amazon/DPD etc who've introduced a zero sick pay policy post the pandemic.
I would say that anyone on second absence will be sorely tempted to have another three days off just 'to show 'em' so royal mail won't really save any money at all unless they just don't cover sick leave. Which is possible.

Some people may think that “ah well I may as well have a week off now.” But a lot I speak to rely on the overtime.
And like you said, it’s more than likely the duty just won’t be covered much.

Actually our latest finish time is 2.40pmrambo1 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 21:58Don't care how much you get paid as long as you can still finish at 3.15pm. Really?Jen1 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 19:07I really don’t give a monkeys about sick pay
Unpopular opinion but I don’t even care about a pay rise
I do strongly disagree with the late start/finish times
My vote is no!!! Unless they change their plan on start finish times
I’m prepared to negotiate on everything else except that
Later finish times will cost me more than a mediocre pay rise could make up for
So I would be prepared to accept no pay rise if they left the start/finish times as they are
Obviously I’m not prepared to take a pay cut so it’s a bit exaggerated for you to say that I don’t care how much I get paid

Where are you getting the impression that the CWU have accepted the change in finishing times?
I don’t know about every office but at ours for the vast majority of us that’s our red line, we wouldn’t be prepared to accept any deal that includes later finishing times

Agreed Sundays were also a massive no for me but it looks like they’ve dropped thatsixfoottwo wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 19:38Thirded! Sundays which look out the picture were a sod that im off moment and so to are the later starts/commit to deliver bollo***nuisance wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 19:19Yeah, seconded. The Sundays were a flat "no chance" from me, so are standard 4.30pm finishes.Jen1 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 19:07I really don’t give a monkeys about sick pay

Why would you be off sick for 1 day then go back if your really sick surely take the week.an the point im making is you really cant be sick for 1 day awaiting the excuses...well sorry you can be but if this sickness procedure comes in think it will cut sickness by more than half if not more.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑14 Apr 2023, 15:26The problem is Royal Mail's really quite stupid attendance procedure that counts 1 day absence the same as 1 week absenceclashcityrocker wrote: ↑14 Apr 2023, 15:24If I am sick for 2 days I take 2 days off.
If I am sick for 9 days I take 9 days off.
It doesn't even occur to me to take more days than necessary.
I would never waste a doctor's time with requests for fake sick certificates.
I don't understand some people.
You could be off for 1 day, go back to work for two days, realise you arent as well as you thought youd be, go off for another two days and those three days off would count as two absences
If you took the entire week off it'd count as 1 absence

Unless you don’t pay for a house, buy food, pay bills, you have already had a pay cut.Jen1 wrote: ↑14 Apr 2023, 22:30Actually our latest finish time is 2.40pmrambo1 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 21:58Don't care how much you get paid as long as you can still finish at 3.15pm. But I can get by as things are now, I’m just basically saying that the start/finish times are the most important part of this dispute for me and a lot of my work mates
I don’t get why most of this thread is about sick pay when that’s way lower down our list of grievances
Either our office is unique or this website isn’t a true representation of what we (posties) consider most important in this dispute???

The video at the start of this thread. They claim to have reached a broad agreement on most issues with the contracts for new starters and sick pay policy being the two sticking points.

Then I'm sorry to say you'll probably all be looking for another job then because that's the way the business is determined to go, with or without the CWU or you and the majority of your office. I used to love early finish but since I started it's gone from 11am to 4pm on a rural. Times (literally) change.

Yeah of course the Royal Mail propaganda machine is saying that but what is the Union saying?Zicomurphy wrote: ↑15 Apr 2023, 07:32The video at the start of this thread. Seriously does anyone know the unions stance on late start/finish times? Has it changed since I voted to strike?

The union have agreed on later start times starting in March 2024- 60-90 minutes later. At least we’ll have a finish time, albeit too late for some.
