Still could have been on strike thu Fri same impact less confusion worry all roundChitchat wrote: ↑22 Dec 2022, 18:34Royalmail has to prove it's taken every reasonable steps to resolve the dispute or its unfair dismissal of a 130,000 workers. Rejecting the CWUs peace offering last week, and this week of canceling strikes for a period of calm to the 16th of January. Doesn't sound like an employer that's taken every reasonable steps to resolve it. Also public opinion Matters alot!

Exactly.
Some people will strike on Saturday because it's the right thing to do but the uncertainty will ruin their Christmas with worry about what's going to happen when they return to work after the festivities.
It's a f**k up.

They should do which obviously in CWU speak means they won’t! It should never have been chosen in the first place. The quietest day of the year normally and now it could potentially be the final nail whacked in by management’s hammer.
People aren’t going to cross here so it is literally the boards wet dream.

Dont worry id like to see them sack over 100000 posties ,i can assure you they won't find 100000 agencies workers to stick at this job to long ,that's even if they can find that many workers in the UK at the moment.

They won’t sack people but it gives them the perfect opportunity to tear up our current contracts and offer us new ones or the door i.e. the CEO’s goal from the start. It is a massive own goal.guardianangel wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 08:30Dont worry id like to see them sack over 100000 posties ,i can assure you they won't find 100000 agencies workers to stick at this job to long ,that's even if they can find that many workers in the UK at the moment.

Posted this in an ealier thread, but it's worth repeating here.
Were an employee is "Locked Out" ie - prevented from entering the workplace due to it being closed - then the 12 week legal protections will be increased for each day that the workplace was locked. There is a cap on the number of days, up to a week.
Given that many delivery offices were "Locked" thus preventing employees from entering rhe buildings in order to work, then the 12 weeks should be extented legally. Of course Mail Centres, Lorry drivers etc will not have been locked out.

Some of you are worried about striking on the 24th in case of being dimissed. Possibly fire and rehire. That is understandable.
If a load of people who haven't previously crossed picket lines do so, you are seriously weakening the position that YOU have been fighting for. You will in effect be giving RM more of a mandate to do as they please. All those strike days become meaningless if we don't keep the pressure on. If the strike crumbles many of you may be looking for another job anyway or working for a company that want to bleed you dry.
By crossing the picket line you will probably end up in the same situation that you are seeking to avoid.
We are not fighting for the Union, as the tenor of some posts seem to think, we are fighting for ourseves. The Union is merely a collective of its members.
Solidarity is needed - a divided workforce plays straight in to their hands.
Nothing risked, nothing gained. We've just got to keep the pressure on.
Well said.
I have been saying the same for the last three months.
"We employ you so we can sack you"

And it's actually the Mail Centre staff that they want to reduce. I wonder if it's all part of their plan.RTP wrote: ↑23 Dec 2022, 09:06Posted this in an ealier thread, but it's worth repeating here.

Re: CWU : The 12 week sacking thing if on strike.
I’ve fully supported the strikes and didn’t even think I’d ever be considering passing a picket. This is making me ill.
My thoughts.
Why have the CWU allowed this to happen, plan a strike day after the protection period. Or is it a case of they messed up.
I voted for better pay and save our terms and conditions, Not to be worried about my contract and gamble with it.
I do not trust the CWU or RM at this present time. I trust the Law and it’s legal and binding.
So even with this slight chance they can dismiss and offer new contracts then I’m not falling into the trap. If I lose my contract I’ll lose it through fighting with the law on my side.
Whoever thought they would stop mail coming into depots? Never in my wildest dreams .. RM, my opinion will do anything to get what they want.
Totally unfair CWU have put its members in this position.

Re: CWU : The 12 week sacking thing if on strike.
Our delivery office and alot around my area were initially closed when the strikes first begun. So one foot wrong from RM and it unfair dismissal of 130,000 staff. Not to mention the fallout from the public.
