Dedicated parcel routes are the beginning of courier style delivery services like Amazon. My feeling is that it will take work away from workplaces and put them at risk of merger and closure. They won't ensure the USO and there will be an even further reduction of delivery workers.

We have dprs in our office of about 130 deliveries, they were put in about 6 months ago.

They have been such a disaster with deliveries having been made far too big and the fact that we don’t have the staff for the dpr’s and can’t seem to employ anyone that they’re being removed next month.

It has not been uncommon for there to be 3-4 days worth of undelivered parcels and obviously massive amounts of mail.

Been such a great idea.

Exactly and they want to stop delivering letters on a Saturday and just deliver parcels

We tried that in our office during covid and it was absolute disaster due to the number of small tracked

Why was it a disaster? I cleared two rounds of tracked yesterday in less time than it would normally take to do one full round, I feel if you didn't have to fully prep the rounds on Saturday you could probably clear 3 or more rounds of Tracked.

I wonder if RM are increasing Tracked prices to try and cut down on the numbers of Traced and so increase non Tracked?

I think many firms will just take their business elsewhere if they feel that Tracked is getting too expensive. Many firms posting, especially big ones likely want to have anything they send trackable from when they dispatch it upto and including when delivery is made (or attempted)

That will only work if the other firms are under cutting RM's Tracked prices? There's also loads of eBay ete private customers who might take the risk and used non tracked to try and save money.

For the under sized parcels/packets I'd suggest there's around a 50% split betweeen Tracked and non Tracked

Now there's a plan. Suck everyone into sending Tracked (because for the last decade of Christmases that's the only thing that moves) and then gouge them. Shareholders gotta eat!

Royal Mail only deliver the final mile.
It's picked up by a company from the locker who distribute to the various other couriers.
Instead of Yodel delivering the final mile it's now RM.
