Re: RMCtv : Pay and change offer - your questions answered
It is so so sneaky to put it as “would receive statutory sick pay” when statutory sick pay is unpaid for first three days
That is designed to deceive
That is designed to deceive
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Guy in ours said when he takes his 2nd sickie he will go off for a month i said you dont get paid for first 3 days he said wots that about 200-250 quid...totally worth it for a month off with fullnpay after 3 daysSplappy_McSplap wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 10:21A lot of people will get wise to the new sick pay policy, and the first time they go off sick, even if they are fine to go back to work, they will just take an extra three days because they won't get paid the next time they go off sick, so they will withdraw three days worth of labour to fix that.
That's all this will achieve.

You didn't say it,wee angry clash just went off on one for nowtNickvilla20 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 08:39What you on about? Where did I say I would abuse the system?clashcityrocker wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 07:41So as we face an attack on our terms and conditions, due in part they say to people abusing the system, your response is to go on a public forum and state that you will abuse the system even more.
Brilliant.
It’s obvious that people will take more time off if they know if they have another absence they won’t get paid for it.

If I am sick for 2 days I take 2 days off.
If I am sick for 9 days I take 9 days off.
It doesn't even occur to me to take more days than necessary.
I would never waste a doctor's time with requests for fake sick certificates.
I don't understand some people.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The problem is Royal Mail's really quite stupid attendance procedure that counts 1 day absence the same as 1 week absenceclashcityrocker wrote: ↑14 Apr 2023, 15:24If I am sick for 2 days I take 2 days off.

You could be off for 1 day, go back to work for two days, realise you arent as well as you thought youd be, go off for another two days and those three days off would count as two absences
If you took the entire week off it'd count as 1 absence

A sh*t offer will always be a sh*t offer
No back pay which most pay deals tend to have
Changes in sick pay towards SSP even though we are delivering longer rounds
Finish times approx 4.30 to ensure that everyone's outdoor duty is maximised
No deal

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

And the attitude that Zareena has about new staff that they have recruited on less pay, terms and conditions since November last year absolutely stinks.
This is a woman that cannot give us a pay rise now, yet can impose 2% on us last year which forced the union to re-ballot and she has also taken annual leave days from us.
Is she in charge of Angard recruitment as well? Is she taking two salaries? Never trust these corporate greedy types.

I do sometimes take an extra day or two to make sure I feel 100% tho, because if you go back before you're fully ready and have to go off again with the same thing, it counts as 2 absences. Been caught out with that before, never again.

It'll be interesting to see if the new policy is brought in whether it does reduce sickness absence, or just motivates people to have now a full week off in future rather than take just 1 or 2 days off with a cold or sickness bug etc.
I just hope nobody gets COVID and decides that they don't want to lose up to 3 days pay so carries on working and then passes on to other posties in the DO.
I can't think of any reputable businesses i.e. not Amazon/DPD etc who've introduced a zero sick pay policy post the pandemic.
