No i endorse the small letterboxes every time.
For the low letterbox I write on it ‘inaccessible.’
So you kill them off, still smelling BS
No I don’t kill them off. I put them back in a tray or even back in the fitting.
Every single low letterbox I have put in the hazard book for that walk. I have a problem with one of my knees and Royal Mail are aware of it. Manager tells me to do what I can so I do. I have just under 50 low letter boxes on my walk and normally I will deliver to about ten of them.
After that, I’ll alternate it the next day or rota man will deal with it.
Why does everyone freak out about low level letterboxes?
Be thankful your not Milkmen who have been placing bottles of milk & sundries on the floor outside peoples doors for centuries without issue.

Because they’re bad for your back and knees when carrying a loaded bag.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’
There’s a couple of rurals and their loop is the other side of the postcode so once they’ve done that it’s about a 40 minute drive to their duty!
We have the same. 7 miles through a town centre to do the lapse. It’s madness but at least your sat in the warm van for an extra 30/40 minutes with the radio on rather than walking the streets.

Milkmen don't have to hold next doors milk under their arm so they can lift a metal flap up with one hand and pour the milk through with the other. Milk deliveries are more like doorstepping a parcel.
If you have a lot of mail, and magazines etc, the low boxes are hideous

The worst ones are the low level spring loaded ones, I’ve got one where it feels like you’ve climbed mt Everest , then you get there , bend down with a few days mail and the fking thing keeps chucking all of it back at you. At the end of a duty too, so I’m spitting feathers by then..

That's why you shouldn't be carrying a loaded bag Low level boxes should be banned though. Imagine if every box was like it!

I'd treat the mail as a pkt and knock every time, if no answer take back and endorse, try again next day. Do not fxxk up your back for the customer or royal mail. If the customer asks why you're knocking for a letter, tell them politely.

That’s what I said I did! And it wasn’t popular on here!
Good for you. Look after number one. It's so so easy to injure your back or knee. You don't even have to have much weight, it's more the awkwardness of it.
A 10 or 15 minute video showing someone bending at the knees constitutes health and safety in Royal Mails eyes
But the problem is a lot of posties can't even do a deep squat properly and that is without any weight on the back!! And doing this is like deadlifting with a rounded back and over time will lead to a back injury at some point.
Why on earth Royal Mail still leave it all to the postie and not have a national policy in place as regards low letterboxes is still beyond me....
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Especially for the older postie. I often question people who complain or moan when I knock on the door because of their low letterbox and I usually say
“You wouldn’t put your door handle at the bottom of the door.”

You sound like a right character. You were probably cuffed around the ear as a child and told not to talk back or talk out of turn. Fair play to you though. I always say "Be nice to yourself" because few others will be. Least of all RM and ST. Just a number (literally) and don't forget it!

We could doorstep the mail no problem but getting it through a stiff spring loaded low down box with a bundle in one hand is a different matter.

Milkman? Talk about a blast from the past! I think the last one I saw was in 1983.
Heard they all died out, due to chronic back pain from all the bending down they did.
