Delivery staff leaving royal mail.

Post by roadrunner bill »

News stories every where, on this site, on the news, on Google..,

Hundreds of reports of massive exodus of people in delivery leaving, new recruits leaving after just several days, many on the sick, massive postal delays, the public not getting their posts for weeks.. no delivery staff. Delivery staff stressed, depressed, physical and mental issues..

So sad to see that just 15 years ago , a great service to the nation, then the locusts got hold of it...the so called no
common sense elite humans.... privatisation.. and they have annihilated it to oblivion.. all for money.. and everyone one else suffers the consequences...

Been in the job 35 years, I have never so much change as I had seen in the last few years since privatisation, the change to single deliveries has made an impact especially on sports and social side which seemed to have dropped off as nobody sits in the canteen chewing the fat anymore, sports have gone by the wayside.

Privatisation has changed work culture.

Hardly surprising and certainly wouldn’t want to be a new recruit with compulsory Sunday working with far less t&c s.
RM has Turned into a horrible company with the Union backing so it seems.

These youngsters got little chance of staying in job, remember when I started 27 years ago,I was trained on walk by a senior postman for 1 week, then the walk became my duty, nowadays they just throw them in deep end and expect miracles,
And that was without all this scanning we are doing and walks were a lot more manageable.

Even the old bosses boys and favourites are turning their back now,the whole of our office are pretty much silent quitting ,unless Royal Mail address this situation im afraid we will lose more £millions of contracts ,and now guys in our office are leaving for other couriers we have sunk to the bottom of the league. An agency guy in our office took a job with us a few weeks ago and told me he has made a big mistake and is going back on the agency as he was told he would only work 1 in 4 Sundays but now they have said its 1 in 2,these lot are like the Tory party ,NEVER TRUST A TORY.

People rushing around, starting early, cutting corners to get done early, is as much a reason for the mess we all find ourselves in now as anything RM or the CWU have done. The union have been banging on about doing the job properly for years now and people ignored it. You reap what you sow.

Or perhaps it's the fact we've now got some serious competition in the likes of Amazon & DPD? Do you really think their drivers do everything by the book?

Amazon and DPD must have their numpties to. Competition or not, who in their right mind comes in early unpaid, its their mess let them sort it.

I don't think any of that has anything to do with changing start times, Ripping up our T&Cs in particular our sick pay, totally unrealistic revisions that go above and beyond what ever these "runners" are giving them and Sunday working. Thats on senior management. I don't think Terry starting 20 mins early is the reason we are completely abandoning our obligations to the USO in favour of tracked items.

People taking the piss is exactly why our sick pay has been adjusted, unrealistic revisions are entirely due to runners and idiots starting early. We are to blame for this, not RM or the CWU who have been banging on about the importance of this for decades now.

No, the change to our sick pay T&Cs was a cash grab. Pure and simple. Unrealistic revisions are far beyond what people have given them by rushing. They have come up with a number they are willing to spend and are just working backwards from it. It's not based in reality. Me and my partner don't rush around. We work to our time and take our breaks and haven't been able to complete in years. We have had 2 revisions since and are looking at another one to add more. It's the same throughout our office.

A very small minority of Postmen/Women do take the piss, but this was about one thing only ....Money!
They have brainwashed some people into believing it's the piss takers, but didn't they quote something like £200,000000 would be saved by the new sick policy? I could be wrong.
