LTB 277/14 Royal Mail Managerial Reorganisation

Dear Colleague

Royal Mail Managerial Reorganisation

In recent weeks, as the Royal Mail Managerial reorganisation has unfolded, the company has continued to share information with the Union on personnel changes, how their new structures will operate and how they interact with the new IR procedures and meeting structures contained within the Agenda for Growth Agreement.

Whilst it is a matter for Royal Mail to determine their own managerial structure, the main concern of the Union will be to ensure that their new structures support the principles and procedures contained in the new Agreement. In this regard, although discussions are continuing, we can reassure CWU Branches and Representatives on the following:

We are not looking to reduce the overall number of CWU Representatives or the tiers and functions in which they currently operate.

The new IR procedures, key meeting structures and principles within the new Agreement are unchanged.

Notwithstanding the above, there will need to be a discussion with Royal Mail on some of the IR interfaces, particularly at divisional level. Reviewing the IR interfaces was a previous commitment as part of the programme of work and both RM and CWU have committed to prioritising this immediately following Annual Conference.

Further information will follow in due course and the opportunity has been provided to discuss this matter during the Wednesday session of Annual Conference as part of the general update on deployment of the new Agreement. Prior to the Wednesday session, we will be able to share a full geographical breakdown of the new Royal Mail structures with delegates.

Any enquiries on the content of this LTB should be addressed to the DGS (P) Department.

Yours sincerely

Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)
