LTB 109/13 - Royal Mail Operations & Modernisation Conference – 4th / 5th March – Birmingham NEC
No. 109/13
Ref: 11003
Date: 21st February 2013
To: All Branches with Postal Members
Dear Colleague
Royal Mail Operations & Modernisation Conference - 4th / 5th March - Birmingham NEC
The Union has recently received the same invitation as last year for CWU Representatives to attend Royal Mail's Ops and Modernisation Conference which is due to take place over the 4th and 5th March at the NEC in Birmingham.
In line with last year the invite is extended to the following:
- CWU Postal Executive Members
- CWU Divisional Representatives
- CWU Area Representatives in all functions
- CWU Area Health & Safety Representatives
- RML - CWU Engineering Reps
- RML - CWU Admin Reps
The company has also offered a slot for the Union to address the Conference.
Given the major differences that have emerged between the company and the Union, the PEC has fully discussed this matter and agreed that the Union should nevertheless accept the invitation.
The event is taking place in advance of our own Policy Forum and it is entirely appropriate for CWU Representatives to raise our concerns with Royal Mail in professional way.
We anticipate that over the next couple of days individual Representatives will receive their personal invitation for the Conference. This will also set out the arrangements and what you need to do to confirm your attendance.
Any enquiries on the above LTB should be addressed to the DGS (P) Department.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary
Sellout

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

To jaw jaw is always better than to war war.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: LTB Lashings of Ginger Beer......
I've said it on many occasions in the run up to privatisation the union will cosy up to RM.
I fail to understand the CWU, on the one hand they are saying to the members don't agree to change, point out to your manager that you are not obliged to work over your time etc etc etc and on the other hand the glitterati are hobnobbing with RM in the guise of putting a professional case forward. What a load of old bollocks. A professional approach would be a letter of intent if the practices so prevalent continue. It's a sad fact that the union have lost the common touch and become professional chatterers and politicos more intent on acceptance by RM as a "player" rather than the voice of the membership.
