LTB:Defending the Universal Postal Service - Campaign Launch

Post by POSTMAN »

TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS

Dear Colleague

Defending the Universal Postal Service - Campaign Launched

You may have seen from news reports earlier today that the CWU has today launched our campaign against the continuing marketisation and privatisation of UK postal services. In the coming weeks and months the Union will undertake a range of activities and events to engage the public, the business world and Politicians in the defence of our Universal Postal Service.

A prerequisite to any successful campaign will be the need to actively engage CWU members in the workplace.

We are planning further communications to members home addresses and it is important that CWU branches and representatives build on the platform we have established in our recent meetings with local representatives and today’s campaign launch.

To assist in this process there are three attachments to this LTB:

The first attachment is a letter for members explaining today’s campaign launch and the approach we will be taking over the announcement to boycott the competitor’s mail in defence of the universal public postal service. We ask branches to ensure this is distributed to our members in the workplace.
The second attachment is a copy of our press release issued earlier today.
The third attachment is a copy of the leaflet that was handed out today to delegates at a leading Postal Industry Conference.

Further communications are being prepared before Christmas and these will be sent out in due course. In the meantime our attention will now turn to the Lobby of Parliament which is taking place on Thursday 6th December.

Any enquiries on the general content of this LTB should be addressed to the DGS (P) Department. Enquiries regarding the Lobby of Parliament should be addressed to the GS Department

Yours sincerely

Dave Ward Billy Hayes
Deputy General Secretary (P) General Secretary

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
